One Piece has tons of theories surrounding its conclusion. There are still a few years left for the anime and manga to end, but that does not stop the speculations. After Monkey D. Luffy revealed his dream to his crewmates, everyone has been trying to decode what it was. The most obvious answer is to create a world of equals.

But in One Piece chapter 1122, Koby reveals that he will stop Luffy from achieving his dreams. Koby and Luffy go way back, and their dream contradicts each other. One Piece fandom brought up a new theory where they would end up fighting in a Christopher Nolan-styled finale.

Monkey D. Luffy Will Help Koby Achieve His Dreams

Monkey D. Luffy is one of the strongest pirates and a strong contender for reaching Laugh Tale. When he first set out to sail, Koby was the first person he had inspired to follow his dream. Koby longed to become an Admiral and hoped to cross paths in the future with Luffy. They will meet as a marine and a pirate.

Currently, Luffy is way ahead of the young marine in terms of power and abilities. But Koby is also trying to reduce that gap, especially after learning Monkey D. Garp’s Galaxy Impact. Recently, a fan theory surfaced surrounding him. The latest One Piece chapter revealed a panel where the marine wants to be the barrier to Luffy’s dream.

The fan theory said, “Luffy will let himself be defeated so that Koby can be the Hero that the people will need when the world needs to be rebuilt. Luffy doesn’t want to be a hero. He’s said it a thousand times already.” It has been teased for a long time that they will face each other.

The fan theory does claim they will fight, but Luffy will purposely lose. He will do it to make Koby a Hero. Koby wishes to create a world of free will where justice will not be forcefully implemented. His win over the potential Pirate King will make his path easier. Moreover, Luffy does not want to be a Hero. He wants to be free.

Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece will come to a full circle, with Joy Boy being the first pirate and Monkey D. Luffy being the last. And both of them are Sun God Nika. Looks like Christopher Nolan inspired Eiichiro Oda. A protector who disappears after saving the world and leaves the rest to his friend, a just man. One Piece could be an elongated version of The Dark Knight.

Koby Will Follow His Mentor’s Footsteps In One Piece

While Monkey D. Luffy saved him, it was Monkey D. Garp who trained him to be a strong marine. He and Helmeppo were personally trained by the ‘Hero of the Marines’ and his right-hand man, Bogard. Before Garp’s status was changed from alive to unknown, he entrusted Koby to carry the future generation.

Garp’s strongest move, the Galaxy Impact, is inherited by Koby. The Hero of the Marines has traded many blows with the King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger. So, history might repeat itself with his disciple battling the next Pirate King. The God Valley Incident earned him that title. With the Final War nearing, the pink-headed marine has the same chance to repeat his mentor’s feat.

It is still too early to predict what will happen in the Final War. Eiichiro Oda always has some tricks up his sleeve. Even after bringing up multiple theories, the mangaka always leaves them surprised. It will be interesting to see how Luffy and Koby’s destiny plays out.

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll, and the manga is available on Viz Media.
