J.K. Rowling has become quite a controversial figure over the past few years. Although responsible for some of the most treasured memories of many, her disregard for specific members of the LGBTQ+ community has left her in dark waters. Regardless, the impact that she has had through the Harry Potter series seems to have grown into something bigger than her.
Fan pages are still active and fans are very much in love with the franchise. However, now and then, the art refuses to get separated from the artist, and the lines get blurred. Recently, a Harry Potter fan account posted some false news about Rowling and her daughter, reporting how the two were estranged and the writer did not have a relationship with her grandchild.
Unfortunately for them, the ‘news’ caught the attention of Rowling and she is furious. Upset at how her family is being involved in the hate the internet has for her, the Harry Potter writer is threatening to take legal action.
Harry Potter Fan Account VS. J.K. Rowling
After all of the controversy involving J.K. Rowling, the Harry Potter fandom seems to have established itself outside of the woman who created the Wizarding World. They express their love for the characters and the world while condemning the writer for alienating a sub-section of her fandom; transgender people.
Recently, a fan account called Wizarding News alleged that the writer had a strained relationship with her daughter and her granddaughter. They also claimed that she changed her name and moved to the country of Portugal so that she would not be related to her mother. The person that they were referring to happened to be someone completely different. However, this was something the account realized after the post got Rowling’s attention.
Could somebody who isn’t blocked by this account tell them this is untrue in all respects, as I suspect they already know. Lying about my kids is a new low, even by this website’s subterranean standards. pic.twitter.com/q2Gmd9SGux

The writer was infuriated at the claims they made. For years now, she has been getting a lot of hate for her beliefs which have involved a lot of foul things being said about her. However, it would seem that she draws the line on people involving her family.
J.K. Rowling Threatens Legal Action
J.K. Rowling then went on to clear the misunderstanding that many were having about her and her relationship with her daughter. She started by saying that her daughter is not obligated to tell anyone about her personal life. However, the two are very close to each other. She added that her daughter did not live in Portugal and did not even have a daughter of her own!
“You’ve published easily disproven and damaging falsehoods. Should we go to legal proceedings, you will need to show why, in spite of being told the truth, you neither retracted nor apologised. In the absence of any such retraction and apology, the next communication you receive will be from my lawyer.”
.@wizardingnews I've done everything I can to keep my children out of the public eye. My eldest daughter doesn't owe you or anyone else details of her private life. However, for the avoidance of doubt:
1. Contrary to your claims, we are very close and last talked an hour ago. We…

Then, the writer dropped a bomb, stating that the woman that they were showing to be her daughter, was someone else entirely. She then told the account that if they did not delete the posts and apologize to her, she would be taking strict legal action against them.
Guess you could say we were following JKR's example: "researching" something & then immediately regurgitating it, [in our case unintentionally] spreading what some consider to be harmful falsehoods about others… which is what Rowling does to LGBTQ+ people daily.

The Wizarding News account on X did issue an apology that was only directed at her children. They mentioned that it was their mistake that they did not cross-check what they were reporting and should not have involved her kin in their hate for her. They then went on to address Rowling and it is safe to say that the writer would not have liked the words that followed.
