New Jersey-born Lynne Marta is no Longer Between Us 

Chris Saint-Hilaire, a friend of Lynne Marta, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the Footloose star died in her Los Angeles home last week. As per her friend, on January 11, at her residence, the native of New Jersey lost her battle against cancer. The late actress, best recognized for her role as Lulu Warnicker in Footloose, was gifted in a variety of media. 

Marta made a lasting impression on the hearts of viewers while appearing in television shows such as The Rookies, Starsky & Hutch, Charlie’s Angels, Matt Houston, The F.B.I.,  Cannon, The Streets of San Francisco, and Barnaby Jones. She starred in Joe Kidd in 1972 with Robert Duvall & Clint Eastwood and in Footloose in 1984 with Kevin Bacon.

She also starred in the movies Help Me… I’m Possessed, Red Sky at Morning, Blood Beach, and Adams of Eagle Lake.

We learned from the New York Post, that her marriage to Brick Huston lasted from 1968 to 1975. Also, People published a report in 1983 claiming that she had an “open relationship” with American-British actor and singer David Soul while he was married to Karen Carlson. Soul died a week before Marta’s death.

News of their sudden and untimely passing shook the industry, sending fans and these stars’ families into a state of mourning and reflection.

Lynne Marta Died Just a Week After The Tragic Death of her Ex-David Soul

David Soul, a 1970s actor, died earlier this month at the age of 80. His portrayal of Ken Hutchinson in the popular drama Starsky & Hutch is what made him most famous. As reported by the BBC, he died on January 4 “after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family”, according to his wife Helen Snell. 

“He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend. His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched.”

The entertainment industry was left with an immense void when this US-born actor died a week before his former partner Lynne Marta’s death. They had an “open relationship,” according to a 1983 People magazine article. The article clarified,

“All through the Starsky and Hutch years David and Lynne lived together but spent time with other people.”
