Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield showed up in their Spider-Man costumes and joined forces with Holland’s character, a spectacle no one expected. Now, how is this going to tie up with Johnson’s Madame Web?

Will Madame Web Connect With Other Spider-Man Characters?

In his interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, actor Andrew Garfield shared his intention to collaborate with Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland again in the future after their first-ever meeting in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

I would love to continue working with Tobey [Maguire] and with Tom [Holland]. That kind of three-brother dynamic is so juicy.”

Holland shares the same excitement and reveals that working with both actors was the highlight of his career. Given another chance, he would love to team up with them again in future Spider-Man installments.

As much as fans want to see the three Spider-Men appear in other Sony franchises, director SJ Clarkson confirmed via Entertainment Weekly that they will not have a part in Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web. Even Tom Hardy’s Venom or Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter won’t intertwine with the film’s narrative.

She’s definitely in a standalone world. I was able to just have free rein and let the movie be what it needed to be, as opposed to trying to force it into something else. That was a gift, in a way, to be able to take something and bring a fresh and I hope original take to it.”

It remains a mystery whether Garfield, Maguire, and Holland would appear together again on the same screen, but fans are definitely not losing hope. Also, it would have been a great reunion for Johnson and Garfield, who both starred in 2010’s The Social Network, if they were to meet as Cassandra Webb and Peter Parker in Madame Web.

Madame Web Will Be An Origin Story

Dakota Johnson seemed like an odd choice for the lead role in Sony’s Madame Web. But, according to the director, this is an origin story, and they wanted to put their own stamp on the character. Even the Fifty Shades of Grey actress was skeptical to take on the project when it was first offered to her. She told EW:

I got sent this script, and I was like, ‘I don’t know about me being a superhero.’ I was sort of mystified by her powers. I felt like, ‘Oh, I really would love to see that superhero. I would love to see a young woman whose superpower is her mind.’

Johnson was drawn to the character the moment she delved into her story. The film is part of Sony’s massive pool of Spider-Man characters, but since it will be a standalone movie, fans should not expect to see other versions of the famed web-slinger.

Madame Web will hit theaters this February 14, 2024.
