The trailer of the movie did not create much hype around the movie anyway but one of the dialogues from it was trolled a lot by the netizens for the sheer absurdity of it. While explaining the origin of Ezekiel Sims to 3 young women that she was trying to protect, Webb said,

“He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died.”

They decided to phrase the line differently so it doesn’t sound as ridiculous as it did in the trailer.

Isn’t any sentence out of context … out of context?… He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died. That seems like a basic storyline to me, but maybe I’m underneath it.” (Via X)

Madame Web was supposed to be the first movie of a standalone universe but considering how it has performed in the US, it seems like Sony might not be interested in developing further movies. Madame Web has turned out to be a massive disappointment to the fans and a critical failure as it has largely received negative reviews from fans and critics alike. The movie is all set to be released globally later this week on 16th February.
