Marvel’s one of the highest-grossing films, Avengers: Infinity War released in 2018. The film featured all the superheroes including Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-man, Doctor Strange, and others putting up a fight against Thanos. However, despite the combined efforts of the superhero, he succeeds in his plan to wipe out half of the population to restore balance in the universe. In the process, Iron Man is left to die as he drifts into space. Luckily, Brie Larsen’s Captain Marvel saves him and brings him to Earth.
However, there is a missing connecting dot between Iron Man and Captain Marvel, as the latter saved him in space. Filmmakers share details of the missing narrative which did not make it to the final cut.

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel Saves Robert Downey Jr. in Avengers: Endgame
As per the film Avengers: Infinity War, after the credits were rolled, there was an end credit scene where Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) hits the distress button on a pager just as he melts into ash. The pager displayed a yellow eight-pointed star on a red and blue field. Marvel fans comprehended it as a signal for Captain Marvel, who would appear in her movie the upcoming year.
In the scene, other Avengers are seen trying to investigate the mysterious pager when Carol Danvers returns to Earth, in response to Fury’s distress message.
Brie Larson’s character was later seen in Avengers: Endgame, where she saves Iron Man from dying in a malfunctioned craft, drifting into a deep space. As per the film, it seems like Captain Marvel happened to see Iron Man in distress and chose to save his life out of her kindness. However, it seems odd for Larson’s character to stumble upon Robert Downey Jr.‘s character in blank space.
Brie Larson’s unfilmed part of the Avengers story
The audience was left confused with the last-minute entry of Captain Marvel in Avengers: Endgame and saving Iron Man. As per the writers, this was an untold part of the story. She did not have a chance encounter with Downey Jr.’s character in space.
As per Joe Russo, Carol Danvers finding Iron Man was not a mere accident (via ScreenRant),
“The missing narrative, of course, is that she came to Earth, met the Avengers, was brought up to speed on what was happening and that there’s some sort of homing beacon on that ship that she tracks, and brings the two of them back to Earth.”
As per the story, Captain Marvel got the page from Fury. She went to Earth, and the Avengers told her that Iron Man was lost in space. Rocket, the only Guardian of the Galaxy character left alive, tipped her on the Benatar’s homing beacon.
Apart from saving Iron Man, Captain Marvel does not have a significant role in the film. She spent most of her time in the off-world, helping other planets. She was not supposed to return until the final battle, where she punched a hole through a spaceship. She does not play any part in the decisive death blow by Thanos.
