The advent of the DCEU meant that heroes and villains from the pages of DC Comics were going to be making their appearances on screen for a long while. But so far, Margot Robbie had proven to be the only one in the franchise to make her presence felt through multiple projects as Harley Quinn from the comics.

But as the DCEU’s chapter comes to a close, there are still several stars that don’t know the fate of their characters in the new DCU envisioned by James Gunn and Peter Safran. But some of them, including the actress allegedly in her recent interview, know that they will be the ones to leave their roles behind.

With the DCEU in the rear-view mirror and the DCU gaining speed, several changes have been implemented ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, which has resulted in the complete upheaval of the old franchise for the new one. Along with that, many stars who once played iconic superheroes in the cinematic universe were also removed from the picture of the new future of the company, which may now include Margot Robbie as well.

In a recent interview profile with Variety, the Barbie star opened up about the success of her most recent film and what it meant for her production company LuckyChap Entertainment. Here, she was asked by interviewer Angelique Jackson whether she was going to continue to play the role of Quinn in Gunn’s new and upcoming DCU.

As Lady Gaga is gearing up to make her appearance as The Joker’s accomplice in DC Elseworlds’ Joker: Folie á Deux with Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character, the question becomes all the more important. She replied:

“I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her.Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, “What are they going to do with her?” The options are endless.”

With this vague response to the question, one thing is assured the actress is excited to watch what Lady Gaga has in store for us as the iconic villainess.

There may still be hope for the actress in the main DCU timeline since Lady Gaga will be part of Elseworlds, which means if Gunn and Safran decide to bring Quinn into the main franchise, then Robbie still has a chance.
