It seems that the fate of the universe has once again brought Star Wars actor Mark Hamill face-to-face with Kevin Conroy’s Batman albeit for one…last…time. With Kevin Conroy becoming a legend by voicing Batman, Mark Hamill’s Joker also became quite famous.
With the death of Conroy, the Star Wars actor revealed that he too would give up voicing the character of The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series. As fate would have it, the late voice actor’s Batman will be shown on the screen once more and Mark Hamill’s Joker will be there to face him.
There Is No Joker Without Batman!
It was the year 2022 when voice-acting legend Kevin Conroy passed away from intestinal cancer. The world mourned the loss of Conroy and how he brought the character of Batman to life in Batman: The Animated Series.
Well, Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, who portrayed the role of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, also voiced the character of The Joker in the animated show. Hamill and Conroy were often seen joking around as they quickly became friends while voicing enemies in the animated series. Hamill had voiced the character of Joker since 1992 alongside Conroy and was heartbroken when he heard about the death of the voice actor.
In a 2022 appearance at Fan EXPO San Francisco, Hamill cited a dialogue from the animated series. The actor was recorded saying “Without Batman, crime has no punchline,”. What’s more harrowing is that Hamill refused to voice the character of The Joker after the passing of Kevin Conroy out of respect for the actor and the friendship that they had. Although it was an admirable decision, it seems that things are going to change soon.
Mark Hamill Will Once Again Voice The Joker Opposite Kevin Conroy’s Batman!
In recent news, IGN revealed that Mark Hamill will most likely return to the role of The Joker in an upcoming project. As per the outlet, Conroy’s voice will be used posthumously for the upcoming film Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, and Mark Hamill wouldn’t mind returning to the character.
IGN stated that a source close to the production has alleged that Mark Hamill will be voicing the role of The Joker against Conroy’s Batman for one last time. Although the news is quite disheartening to hear, there is a ray of silver lining wherein Hamill will be able to say goodbye to his dear friend and the whole world could listen to him and mourn Conroy.
