Dunkin’ undoubtedly stole the show with the best Super Bowl ad this year. The Super Bowl is not only a fiercely competitive sport for the teams involved but also for companies striving to churn out memorable and attention-grabbing ads.
Dunkin’ this year achieved this feat by featuring JLo, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Tom Brady all in one star-studded commercial, representing the essence of Boston. However, fans couldn’t help but wonder why Mark Wahlberg wasn’t part of the commercial. The actor finally addressed this question during an interview with Stephen Colbert.
Why Wasn’t Mark Wahlberg in the Dunkin’ Ad?
Actor Mark Wahlberg appeared on the Stephen Colbert Show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, to address some pressing questions regarding his absence from the Dunkin’ commercials. With two of his closest friends, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, alongside Tom Brady, it seemed like a full house of Boston boys. However, Wahlberg himself admitted to wondering the same thing. He expressed his hope for Dunkin’ to give him a call in the future. He revealed,
“I was wondering the same thing, you know. I have no idea,—I’m from the wrong side of the tracks, I think,–very, very funny.–I’m trying to work my way into their good graces, Hopefully they’ll give me the call one of these days. I’m waiting patiently.”
The Dunkin’ advertisement was truly wild. In the commercial, Ben Affleck bursts into the studio where his wife, Jennifer Lopez, is busy working on her latest album, This Is Me… Now, to reveal a hilarious song concocted by him and the “Dunkings” about Dunkin’. And he’s not alone, as the star-studded ad featured a very embarrassed Matt Damon and a very enthusiastic Tom Brady on the music, while Affleck rapped away. With a plethora of notable other celebrity appearances in smaller roles, ranging from Jack Harlow to Fat Joe, the lineup was undeniably crazy.
Mark Wahlberg Starred in an Alternate Commercial Instead!
While Mark Wahlberg got snubbed from the Dunkin’ Super Bowl 2024 advertisement, he was in an ad for the Catholic meditation app Hallow instead. Aired during the matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, this commercial starred Wahlberg alongside Jonathan Roumie, renowned for his portrayal of Jesus Christ in the TV drama The Chosen.
Here is what the fans online have to say about the whole fiasco,
Mark Wahlberg and Ben Affleck both did commercials for their respective religions: Christianity and Dunkin

While Wahlberg appeared visibly disappointed about not being invited to the Dunkin’ commercial with his Boston buddies. Online, people are glad both he and Affleck are doing what they love and can pursue their passions. While for Wahlberg, it’s his faith, for Affleck, it’s Dunkin’.
