Despite it, there are some projects even he regrets working on. One just so happens to be with a big director, M. Night Shyamalan. He had been very open about his dislike of The Happening and was glad that whoever said no to the film or got rejected from it, it was in their own favor only.

Mark Wahlberg Was Happy Amy Adams Wasn’t In The Happening

Mark Wahlberg has not regretted a lot of his movies, but one that he wholeheartedly hated being in was M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening. Although the movie isn’t one of the best works of the director, it has quite a fanbase. He was not happy with the concept of the film and fighting plants was the last thing he wanted on his resume.

“We had actually had the luxury of having lunch before to talk about another movie and it was a bad movie that I did. She dodged the bullet. And then I was still able to … I don’t want to tell you what movie … alright The Happening. F*ck it. It is what it is. F*cking trees, man. The plants. F*ck it. You can’t blame me for not wanting to try to play a science teacher. At least I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook.”

Before Zooey Deschanel got the role of Alma Moore, Amy Adams was in line to play the character. The actor was more than happy that Adams did not get the role because unlike him, she dodged a big bullet. The movie seemed to be a disaster in the making and the final outcome was no better either.

“Since that would be the only case of that happening — no,” the director said. “But really, no. It’s totally his call. However, he wants to interpret it.”

He added that Shyamalan saw The Happening as a B-Movie and wanted to attract an audience accordingly. However, the film was a major flop amongst the fans and Wahlberg got a bad experience out of it as well.
