The Marvel Cinematic Universe might not be doing as well as it used, but that hasn’t stopped fans from creating speculative theories. And Avengers: Secret Wars is one of the most anticipated and upcoming favorite movies of Marvel fans, which they love to create theories about. Slated to be released in 2027, the prospects of such a mega-comic book event coming to the big screen have considerably created a big buzz.
Recently, a scooper revealed that Hugh Jackman (who is returning as Wolverine for Deadpool 3) would come back in Secret Wars only if Marvel brings back Tobey Maguire and RDJ. This inevitably led to fans yet again creating theories and debating about the possible outcomes of such an event.
Hugh Jackman Reportedly Wants Tobey Maguire To Return In Avengers: Secret Wars
Both Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire are fan-favorite Marvel actors who achieved significance and worldwide popularity with their respective Marvel roles. While Maguire became famous as Spider-Man and was last seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jackman is known for being the absolute fan-favorite mutant, Wolverine.
Next, returning in the Ryan Reynolds starrer movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, Jackman had previously hung his adamantium claws after doing Logan. But he has since picked up his claws once again for what fans believe will be his last and final appearance.
However, rumors of him starring in Avengers: Secret Wars have been going for a while, and scooper and X user @MyTimeToShineH tweeted on March 4, stating,
“Hugh Jackman told Marvel he will return for Secret Wars, but only if he’ll get to interact with Tobey and RDJ”
This rumor, or ‘insider information’, rather created a significant buzz on the internet. While fans called the news dope and would certainly love to see an actor as beloved as Robert Downey Jr. in a Marvel movie again, other fans were quick to create speculative fan theories over the prospect of seeing Spider-Man and Wolverine star together.
Marvel Fans Busy Creating Avengers: Secret Wars Theories
The Secret Wars, even in the Marvel comic books, is a huge event, and all fans are certainly excited to see Marvel Studios’ version of the event. However, after this rumor of Hugh Jackman wanting Tobey Maguire and RDJ went viral, there have been numerous fan reactions and theories (see Reddit).
One of these theories was tweeted by the X user @thegeekycast, who stated,

While there were mixed reactions and more votes for Maguire to die, some fans even believed that both heroes would be sacrificing themselves to put an end to their journey within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Even though these are just theories, rumors, and speculations, the fans’ sincerity and determination toward the mythos prove that the MCU still has a chance and we can’t wait to witness what the studio has in store for us.
Avengers: Secret Wars will be in theatres on May 7, 2027.
