While fans believed that the loss of Jonathan Majors was a major setback for the studio, Colman Domingo‘s casting rumor brought some positive expectations among fans. Domingo won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor for his role as a recovering drug addict in Euphoria. His role as Bayard Rustin in the biographical drama film, Rustin, earned him nominations at the Academy Awards, BAFTA Awards, Golden Globes, and SAG Awards.

Two fans decided to give Marvel fans a treat and came up with art that showed what the critically acclaimed actor could look like in the role in Avengers: Secret Wars. The art came from the Instagram pages, @bensolo_cup and @spdrmnkyxxiii, who perfectly captured Domingo’s villain side. Both the images were designed after Jonathan Majors’s role as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The Fear the Walking Dead actor’s imagined look in these images has already won over fans. However, the studio has yet to confirm the replacement actor for the role. According to THR, the subtitle, The Kang Dynasty, was reportedly dropped from Avengers 5. It appears that Domingo’s potential character might bring big changes to the initially planned Multiverse storyline.

Colman Domingo has been a popular name as Kang ever since Jonathan Majors was let go from the MCU due to his conviction. The first reports about Marvel eyeing Domingo came from insider Daniel Richtman. Fans immediately liked the idea, especially after The Color Purple actor’s performance in Euphoria and Rustin. Domingo revealed in a two-year-old interview with AwardsWatch that he would take on any villain roles from Marvel or DC.

After the casting rumors sparked a widespread conversation on the internet, Domingo addressed them during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. The Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom actor was aware of all the “talks and conversations” surrounding his casting as Kang, but he hadn’t heard anything about it from official sources.

Nevertheless, he appreciated the passionate fan discussions and was happy about people speaking “lovingly” and “kindly” about his potential casting. He told Entertainment Tonight:

“I don’t know, I’m always looking at what I have to do right now… I know there’s talk and conversations around, and I don’t know how much is true. I don’t even get that from my team, I can’t tell if it’s true or not. The fans are passionate. Somehow my name is out there in the world [and] I like the idea of just having your name called and someone speaking lovingly and kindly about something is a beautiful thing.”

The one challenge Marvel has to address in this casting would be the 20-year age gap between Domingo and Jonathan Majors. Rumors suggest that Domingo will appear as a different Kang variant in Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars from the ones seen in Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
