Public relations experts believe there is no way Jonathan Majors could rise from the ashes of a tarnished reputation after his conviction. The actor was infamously charged with assaulting his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, after a conflict that happened in March of last year.
After a long and strenuous trial, the Marvel star was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment. Prior to his sentence, he has been dropped from several projects and companies, including his management team Entertainment 360, the Texas Rangers Ad Campaign, and later on, Disney.
Experts Believe Jonathan Majors Is Only Making Things Worse
In the midst of Jonathan Majors’ trial, the actor has involved himself in a series of failed public relations strategies. His team was trying so hard to fix his public image, but it seems the situation only got worse. Los Angeles-based strategic communications and crisis management CEO Nathan Miller shared with the LA Times:
“Jonathan made a bad situation worse — one PR failure after another. That interview tremendously undercut his credibility. There’s ways of denying you committed physical assault but also acknowledging the complexities of the situation that shows responsibility.”
He was referring to an interview in January where the actor insisted on his innocence and declared himself the victim. Majors also replied with a nonchalant “I wish to God I knew” when inquired about his ex-girlfriend’s bruises.
Moreover, an audio clip presented at the court shockingly revealed Majors blaming Grace Jabbari for not conforming to the standards of what Black men expect from their partners. He mentioned the likes of Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama who supported their husbands.
The interview was seen as a bad decision as it has become impossible now to repair the damage. Not only will it fortify the negative opinions of the people about the actor, but it also adds more fuel to the fire.
Even his relationship with his new girlfriend, Meagan Good, was seen as a stunt to boost support from the Black community since most of his supporters were Black women. His team is definitely failing at their attempt to gather as many supporters as they can to root for Majors in the middle of all these hullabaloos.
Jonathan Majors Still Denies Abuse Allegations Even After Receiving Guilty Verdict
A domestic violence expert claimed Jonathan Majors seeks sympathy from the public after his interview with Good Morning America. Fans would remember the actor stated, “I was reckless with her heart, not with her body,” after he was asked if he accepted the jury’s decision. Sociologist Nicole Bedera said via The Guardian:
“He’s denying the reality that’s being put in front of him and attacking the victim by suggesting that she’s the one who’s actually mistreating him. It’s the classic defense of men who have behaved badly and are looking for empathy.”
Majors is still hopeful that he will rise in the industry again after his conviction, putting all of his faith in “God’s plan and God’s timing.”
