Die Hard moviegoers, especially superhero movie fans, inherently possess a dire desire to own the props of movies they love. A Marvel comic book legend was no exception, as he revealed his weirdest possession from MCU rival DC’s prop from a Superman classic.
Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent appeared in the first Superman movie in 1978, and the movie marked the beginning of the dawn of comic book movies. Marvel comic book writer Mark Millar revealed his wild fascination over his favorite superhero character, Superman, as he has some weird props from the movie in his collection.
Mark Millar Has Weird Superman Props in His Collection
Marvel comic book legend, Mark Millar, revealed that he has some of the weirdest Superman props in his possession. DC’s titular hero, Superman, is his favorite character, and he owns some of the original 1978 movie props. In an interview with Empire, it was revealed that Millar owns Christopher Reeve’s cape from the movie alongside one disturbing item.
Millar has been a massive Superman fan, the outlet reported. His fascination for the character, or rather his love for the first Superman movie, propelled him to have the stuffed corpse of the white cat from the movie in his collection. For context, the cat was rescued by Reeve’s Superman in the Richard Donner-directed hit.
Call it weird, but collectors of movie props would understand the inherent value of the props that Miller owns. Miller has an astounding Marvel comic book legacy. His credits include Civil War and Wolverine: Old Man Logan.
Mark Millar Wanted to Make a 7-Hour-Long Superman Story
Millar is not exclusive to Marvel comics. The legendary author also made his mark in DC comics. His most notable credit in DC, Superman: Red Son which was adapted into the screen in the 2020 animated series of the same name, sees the Man of Steel in an alternate light– as a communist hero. But Millar had more ambitious plans for his favorite comic book character. “A director approached me about three months ago now. I had sort of given up on it,” Millar told Empire.
“[But] Superman is a huge deal to me. My friend knows this. He’s a really big director. He says that, look, the Man of Steel looks like it might not be happening. If it doesn’t happen, it’s been spoken about the possibility of me coming in. Would you like to write it?”
Why not? Millar has always been fascinated with Superman, and he had a well-made plan in his mind.
“I’ve had this plan for ten years of a big three-picture Superman thing. Like a big Lord of the Rings epic, starting over from scratch again. A seven-hour Superman story, hopefully one year after the other. If it works out, we could start shooting next summer,” he told the outlet.
However, Millar never revealed his mysterious director friend, and the update on the project was also scrapped, never to be heard of again. Still, it was an ambitious project, and Millar’s magic would shine through the Man of Steel undoubtedly.
