After years of blockbuster films, which were mainly dominated by superhero fandom, the Barbenheimer summer is a welcome surprise. Barbie and Oppenheimer are two examples of how acclaimed auteurs can worm their way into popular culture with clever and avant-garde works. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer may already be the winner in some people’s eyes, but most people are curious to find out which film will top the box office haul.
According to word-of-mouth and reviews, Barbie, a mass-market film, was already expected to perform well at the box office before its release. Even Christopher Nolan, who has purposefully stayed out of the controversy the entire time, appeared to be giving up as Greta Gerwig’s movie was expected to win with a resounding victory.
However, following Oppenheimer’s box office success, Nolan’s fans started to support the film, recently firing at MCU fans.

Christopher Nolan Fan’s Huge Support For Oppenheimer
The summer’s biggest opening weekend went to Barbie, but Universal’s Oppenheimer accomplished an equally remarkable feat by defying all odds and earning $82.5 million on its debut (first week).
Younger audiences helped Barbie reach the top of the box office and contributed to its enormous box office haul, per demographic data. But Oppenheimer continues to set records, and the stage is set for a fierce confrontation between ardent admirers of cinematic artistry.
The unquestionable box office success of Oppenheimer, which has left a trail of stunned MCU fans in its wake, is fueling the fire. Christopher Nolan, who is renowned for his intricate storytelling and complex narratives, has once again displayed his mastery, much to the dismay of the MCU fanbase.
Nevertheless, Nolan’s supporters are also adept at firing back, as evidenced by one of their statements:

Non Nolan stans watching Oppenheimer: why are the characters speaking in exposition, why is the music drowning out the dialogue? Why are the female characters so two dimensional? Why is there no emotion anywhere to be found?

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
They have been brainwashed with that standard. It ain’t a movie if there is no post credits scenes and CGI fights 😂😂😂That the standard for them. No wonder they don’t rate Nolan’s masterpiece Batman

OPPENHEIMER is a monumental achievement from Christopher Nolan. A powerful story told on the grandest scale possible. My fav director since Memento and one of the most unrewarded talents in the industry in Cillian Murphy. From Intermission to Peaky Blinders he just turns in brilliant performances every time. I hope he rakes in the awards this year.

In an interview, the Inception director discussed the feedback he got from viewers of his biographical thriller film before it was released. Nolan recalled their responses and said:
“Some people leave the movie absolutely devastated. They can’t speak. I mean, there’s an element of fear that’s there in the history and there in the underpinnings. But the love of the characters, the love of the relationships, is as strong as I’ve ever done.”
He went on to say:
“It is an intense experience because it’s an intense story. I showed it to a filmmaker recently who said it’s kind of a horror movie. I don’t disagree.”
In addition to receiving critical acclaim, the movie has made over $400 million worldwide. The cast, screenplay, and visual effects have all received praise for delivering the masterful piece of art.
