Is Krysten Ritter back as Jessica Jones? After getting Charlie Cox back as Daredevil and Jon Bernthal as Punisher, fans are waiting for Ritter’s private detective to make the jump to the MCU. Fans say that with Daredevil: Born Again having 18 episodes in its first season, there’s ample time for the show to reintroduce Ritter.

However, does Ritter want to be back? And most importantly, does Marvel want her back? The actress seems to be sending cryptic signs suggesting her return or desire to return for a long time. However, it looks like Marvel is the one that’s not sure.

Krysten Ritter once wore a Daredevil t-shirt while at the gym, she also posted a pic with Luke Cage star Mike Colter and commented under Jon Bernthal’s Instagram post where he announced his return as Punisher. All of these instances were interpreted by fans as signs indicating her return.

But there hasn’t been any official news as of yet even though Daredevil: Born Again has begun shooting. So what’s going on? In an interview with Michael Rosenbaum on the Inside of You podcast, Krysten Ritter talked about her MCU entry plans.

“I have no idea; I hope so! I think that people love Jessica; I know because I live it. Marvel is so secretive – I am just putting that out there that, of course, I would be there in a second. I would have my boots and jacket ready to rock.”

There’s speculation that Marvel doesn’t want to continue the storylines of the Netflix shows and neither does it want all the characters from them. However, it was once heavily rumored that Ritter’s Jessica Jones had a high chance of returning since Feige loved the actress’ portrayal of the character. So what presumably went wrong?

A few months back, there was heavy speculation that Marvel was courting Krysten Ritter to return as Jessica Jones for Echo and Daredevil: Born Again. It was rumored that Charlie Cox’s vigilante was going to find Ritter’s Jessica Jones for help with Echo. However, that doesn’t seem to have panned out.

However, apparently, that was the plan once upon a time and the only reason it didn’t pan out is due to scheduling conflicts with Ritter. On the Cape Time podcast, host Tom Smith elaborated on this and said:

“Basically, ‘Born Again’ is re-introducing the Netflix characters to the mainstream, and they planned to bring in Ritter, but there’s a scheduling problem for ‘Born Again’. So they needed another Netflix star to fill the role. It’s Jon Bernthal. Wouldn’t be shocked if Ritter cameos tho.”

With Daredevil: Born Again supposed to have a long shooting schedule, fans will certainly be hoping to see Ritter’s hero back into the mix with her Netflix brethren. But whether that happens or not, remains to be seen.
