Right after the verdict, the studio immediately scrapped their relationship with Majors, he will never be involved in any of MCU’s future projects. So, the imminent question remains, what happens to Kang? There were several rumors and theories regarding the MCU’s Big Bad but none has the credibility to assure what MCU is about to cook.

It would be a mess to directly abandon Kang as the current MCU Big Bad after establishing the character in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki. Jonathan Majors’ character was meant for a greater role in future MCU movies to challenge the Avengers. Following Major’s dismissal from the MCU, the grand rumor surfaced adhering to the introduction of Doctor Doom as the replacement of Kang. However, Deadline senior reporter Justin Kroll has a major update regarding the character.

“See a lot ‘who will play Kang next’ and ‘here is a top contender for Kang’ comments this week, and all I’ll say is this, don’t expect that news anytime soon. There will be plenty of Marvel breaks in coming weeks on various fronts but don’t hold your breath on that one,” Kroll wrote on X.

Kroll has ascertained that Marvel will not rush to decide what’s the immediate solution but rather focus on what’s best for business. “This isn’t dismissing any rumor this week about potential contenders for the role,” he wrote in the comment. “I don’t have any intel on those being true or not true it’s just letting you know,” he continued. “If I were betting what gets announced first, Kang or the field, I’d put money on the field,” the journalist added. Still, the Kang debate and the swirling rumors around it are far from stopping anytime soon. Also, MCU is not making any absolute statement to soften the speculation.

Colman Domingo— The Big Jonathan Majors Replacement Rumor

Dark days are looming above Majors as his sports drama Magazine Dreams was recently dropped by Searchlight Pictures as several outlets report. As the actor was axed from the Disney-owned superhero brand, Marvel Studios, the next potential candidate to replace the actor created a long discussion that is far from ending anytime soon. John Boyega and John David Washington were in the mix in the rumors but Boyega refused straightway. Of late, Fear the Walking Dead star Colman Domingo’s name came in the buzz. Domingo who recently played Albert “Mister” Johnson in Blitz Bazawule’s The Color Purple and played the title role in Netflix’s Rustin is aware of the buzz but revealed to ET that he hasn’t heard anything from the studio.

“I don’t know, I’m always looking at what I have to do right now… I know there’s talk and conversations around, and I don’t know how much is true. I don’t even get that from my team, I can’t tell if it’s true or not,” Domingo said of the rumor.

The 54-year-old added, “The fans are passionate” while acknowledging seeing his name in the mix. “Somehow my name is out there in the world,” he continued. “I like the idea of just having your name called and someone speaking lovingly and kindly about something is a beautiful thing,” the actor added. Now, as Marvel has yet to decide on the future of Kang, the rumor will continue to spark and several names may come in the mix until Marvel Studios decides to join the conversation.
