It may be safe to say that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has split the fans with some of the reveals about the upcoming game. But none so much as the news of the Mary-Jane Watson playable sections making a return in the upcoming release.
As you may remember in the 2018 title Marvel’s Spider-Man, there were certain sections of the game where you had to play as MJ and use her natural journalistic skills to stealth her way around the missions. However many fans found these parts of the game tedious and that they ruined the pace of the game, hoping also that they wouldn’t be a part of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

And in a recent reddit thread one fan was pleading that we wouldn’t see the return of the dreaded missions where you have to play as MJ;
“For the last 5 years I have been preying that mj missions don’t make a return in spider-man 2. However if there is a couple mj missions where you have to hide from peter, than I’m extremely ok with that.”
And certainly fans on the Reddit forum agreed with the OP on this matter;
“I agree with this. I don’t like any of the MJ stealth missions, but I do love the stealth missions for Miles, especially the one with Rhino. It shows just how terrifying these villains are, being forced to deal with them as a civilian. MJ stealth missions never felt that way.”
But then again, some fans are either actually looking forward to the MJ missions or don’t mind the missions at all;
“I honestly wouldn’t mind more MJ missions if they were more like the central Station one with Devils breath.”
“Never had a problem with any of the stealth missions. Don’t get why everyone harbours such hate for them, even after 5 years.”
From the comments on Reddit, we can see that the original post is clearly in reference to Peter Parker having paired with the symbiote and it changing his personality for the worse. Which means there is the possibility that MJ will have to actively avoid him in certain parts of the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, utilising that stealth that she honed in the first game.
And from the recent trailer we could certainly see hints of this, with MJ hiding behind a doorway from what appears to be the Symbiote Spiderman. Could this be a cinematic from some darker stealth mission in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? There’s a lot of fans speculating about it and hoping it’s true!
