FromSoftware games, including Elden Ring, boast a robust multiplayer component that enables fans to engage in both PvP and PvE. The mode is so popular that entire etiquette systems have been formed for those looking to engage in some jolly cooperation.

Established since the Souls games, every FromSoftware title, aside from Sekiro, has had a multiplayer mode. While most tend to stick to a classic face-off, others tend to take a more stealthy approach. The same is true for Elden Ring, and the game even supplies an item that helps with some devious schemes.

Elden Ring’s PvP Items Can Help Players Get the Drop on Invaders or Targets

Some unofficial rules in PvP for Soulsborne titles are bowing before beginning, offering people prep time for buffs, or not healing mid-combat. These are just courtesies, though, and there’s no reason to stick to them. Nothing is stopping a player from trying to ambush invaders or targets through stealth either, and that’s exactly what one player did using a special item.

Redditor Shadow_9207 posted a video of their invasion into a world with three other players. The odds were stacked against them, so the approach had to be strategic. The Mountaintops of the Giants are filled with ephemeral deer, and the invader takes on the shape of this creature by using the Mimic’s Veil.

This item allows players to take on the appearance of a random world object, helping hide their presence. It’s not foolproof, and the keen eye can spot such a disguise, but it appears to have worked for our hero. Taking the form of a ghostly deer, they creep up behind the trio before using the Bloodboon Ritual skill with Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear to severely bleed and kill all three.

The Mimic’s Veil item is one of many items that allow players to gain an advantage in their game. It can be found on the second floor of the fortress with the Grafted Scion in Stormveil Castle. You’ll have to face a Banished Knight to access the chest with the item.

The DLC for Elden Ring is now just a couple of months away, and it’s going to bring a slew of additions that will affect PvP overall. Along with new locations, we are getting several new weapon types that should revamp combat entirely. We can expect new items that will affect multiplayer gameplay as well.

Shadow of the Erdtree will only be accessible for players who have completed Mohgwyn Palace, so the caliber of players entering PvP in DLC locations is going to be high. Expect to fight mostly late-game builds against players who have had time to understand their strengths and weaknesses.

The DLC is claimed to be the largest expansion that FromSoftware has ever worked on. With a map the size of Limgrave, the starting area of Elden Ring, players have a lot to explore to find the path of Miquella and what he has planned in the Land of Shadow.

What aspect of the DLC are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments!
