The decades-long romance story of Tim and Hawk in Fellow Travelers earned much-deserved recognition at the Critics Choice Award. The series was nominated for three awards in the Limited Series category. While it didn’t win the Best Series or Best Actor for Matt Bomer, Jonathan Bailey triumphed with the Best Supporting Actor award.
Bomer was visibly happy for Bailey, quickly getting up to kiss his co-star on the lips as soon as the award was announced. He also teared up during the Bridgerton actor’s acceptance speech. Bailey added some cheeky comments to lighten up the emotional mood. He made a clever reference to their s*x scenes in the film, when he delivered the line, “Those of you who have seen Fellow Travelers will know that Matt and I come together.”
The line sent the entire room into heartfelt laughter. Bailey’s playful look after making the dirty joke made the line even funnier. Matt Bomer, who was emotional at his co-star’s win, also laughed out loud at the joke. A video of Bailey’s joke and the Chuck actor’s reaction to it surfaced on X.

Jonathan Bailey Dedicated His Award To The LGBTQ+ Community
In his acceptance speech, Jonathan Bailey dedicated his Critics Choice Award to the LGBTQ+ community. He shared that the series served as an education, showing that the LGBTQ+ community has always existed in the past. He thanked all those who fought for a better life for men like him today. Bailey expressed pride in winning an award that told their story. Bailey shared in his acceptance speech (via Daily Mail):
“For many, it’s an education, but for us, it’s a vital truth. This series is a much-needed reminder that LGBTQ+ people have always existed, mostly hidden. They have always been fighting for an easier life for the generations that followed. So I thank those who came before me, who created a world where I can stand here today and win an award for telling their story.”
Bailey further added that the series also encourages people to profess their love before it’s too late. He addressed his Fellow Travelers team, LGBTQ+ people who lost their lives and loves in the 1980s and ‘90s, and LGBTQ+ individuals living in a bigoted community in his dedication.
