Just like he did during his most recent appearance on a talk show, as he recalled a rare emotionally heartwarming moment that he shared with his late father — one that could bring even a grown man to tears. And in doing so, the Jason Bourne actor only further proved that he is much more of a softie than what meets the eye.

Matt Damon’s Touching Moment With His Father Could Make You Cry

Recently appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the Good Will Hunting star pretty much brought tears to the audience’s eyes with one story about a rare moment that he shared with his deceased father, the late Kent Damon.

This happened while he was playing The Colbert Questionert, which involved Stephen Colbert asking him a series of questions, answering all of which would apparently make Damon fully known to the world. One of these questions was about the actor’s earliest memories.

After revealing that he remembers his “crib,” Matt Damon then shared the story of “kind of an amazing thing that happened to me.” Recalling the time when his father passed away back in 2017, he said:

“Within that year, I had this crazy dream; [my father] came to me in a dream. And he embraced me.”

If the emotions with which he was sharing this story weren’t enough, Matt Damon describing what it felt like to be embraced by his late father in his dream further made the environment even more tear-jerking. He said:

“The feeling that I got was the feeling that I had, which, I think, is, like, my first memory, which was the feeling of what it felt like to be held by him.”

Now that is indeed truly heart-rending and moving at the same time, more than enough to make even a grown man cry!

Continuing, Matt Damon then expressed how that one dream took him way back in time to what he described as his earliest memory. And with that memory came “overwhelming protection and love,” as The Martian star shared most heartwarmingly.

“It was a feeling of such overwhelming protection and love. And it was preverbal, right? So, I can’t even explain what it felt like. All I knew was that he was there and that I was feeling that embrace. And it reminded me that I must have felt that as one of the very first things I was aware of as my, kind of, consciousness came online.”

For what it’s worth, to get reminded once again of a feeling like that sounds like a true gift — especially for someone like Damon, who has lost that very person who appeared in his dream. What can we say? The Jason Bourne star is indeed truly gifted, that’s for sure!
