The late Matthew Perry will always be remembered as the ever-so-hilarious Chandler Bing, who had this magical ability to defuse tension with his one-liners. Apart from his mastery of deadpan humor, Perry’s character also entertained fans with the interesting (and varying) dynamics he shared with his other five friends in the show FRIENDS.
In particular, his relationship with Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) kept fans intrigued. Despite teasing viewers by revealing a romantic connection between the pair in flashbacks, the writers focused on their friendly rivalry that became the soul of many episodes.
Interestingly, in real life as well, there was a flirtatious history between the two, with Perry admitting he had a crush on his co-star. It’s well-known that his co-star David Schwimmer also had a major crush on Aniston. Turns out, there was another actor on the set with similar feelings.
Another FRIENDS Star Had a Crush on Jennifer Aniston
FRIENDS featured many relationships, including Chandler Bing’s (Matthew Perry) marriage with Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), and Ross Geller’s (David Schwimmer) and Rachel Green’s (Jennifer Aniston) on-again, off-again romance for 10 seasons.
But Ross also had relationships with other women, including Carol Willick. Willick was his first ex-wife, who separated from him after realizing she was a homosexual. But they kept in touch due to their son, Ben Geller. The saying ‘Apple doesn’t fall from the tree’ in some ways rang true on the sets of FRIENDS, as the actor Cole Sprouse, who played Ben, also had a crush on Aniston.
During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in 2018, Sprouse revealed:
“I remember feeling so, so intimidated by my crush on her that I completely blanked and forgot every single one of my lines, and she just stared at me.”
Sprouse, who went on to star in Riverdale, added that a crew member called him out for his crush on the actress.
Jennifer Aniston After Being Informed About Cole Sprouse’s Crush on Her
Aniston once sat down with Access Hollywood ahead of the premiere of her comedy Murder Mystery 2 with her co-star Adam Sandler.
The 57-year-old also worked with Sprouse and his twin brother Dylan Sprouse for his film Big Daddy in the late 90s. When the pair were told the little kid they worked with is now 30 – the same age Aniston’s character was during season 7 of FRIENDS – both were left stunned.
Then the actress was informed about Sprouse’s feelings during the filming of her show. The 54-year-old replied, “He was so little.”
The Suite Life actor was seven years old when he began shooting for FRIENDS, making his first appearance in season 6. In total, he appeared in seven episodes of the popular sitcom.
