Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston have made their names in comedies, In fact, both actors have been part of several popular comedies but their collaboration does have something else stored for the fans to have a chuckle— on and behind the scenes.
Aniston, Sandler’s longtime pal, teased him till it was too awkward for the Uncut Gems actor. The duo appeared in Netflix’s Murder Mystery franchise and though the comedy movie had a lot to offer for a bit of a chuckle, Sandler’s awkwardness deserves special attention.
Jennifer Aniston Had One Rule Before Kissing Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston have been friends for nearly thirty years after the duo met at a deli. They have previously worked together in the 2011 film Just Go With It. But Aniston had one important rule when it came to filming the kissing scene in their Netflix movie. “I did have him learn to oil the beard up a little bit,” Aniston told AP.
The FRIENDS actor even put a reminder on his phone with a text, “She sends me texts, ‘Nine days till kissing — here it comes,'” Sandler told the outlet. Responding to her “oil up the bread” comment Sandler added, “Yeah, she wanted me to have a nice, soft beard.”
Sandler and Aniston played the Spitz couple— Nick and Audrey, not-so-quite successful detectives who are caught up in a murder investigation of a billionaire in a yacht to solve the whodunit. It also added spice to the marriage of the couple.
Filming Murder Mystery Kiss Was Awkward For Adam Sandler
Perhaps it would have been easier for Sandler to kiss his co-star if his family were not present on set. They have been long-time friends and it was almost a cakewalk when it came to the kissing scene. In the weird situation, Sandler’s wife Jackie and children were on set and encouraging the 57-year-old to kiss Aniston.
“The only awkward part is hearing my wife on the side going, ‘Harder! Harder! Kiss her harder! Deeper! They (Jackie and the kids) watched the kissing. They love it. They love Aniston, and they want her to have good things and they say, ‘Give her something nice,’” Sandler told AP.
Of course, it was weird for Aniston as well, “That was awkward,” she nodded to Sandler’s response. “Right, that when it’s working good, it’s teamwork,” he told Aniston in the interview.
“I like that there was no question you and I, our characters, are together, even when we were not getting along. When it was going back and forth with being upset with each other it was never an option of saying, ‘I don’t know if I can handle this anymore.’ It was more like, ‘We’ve got to figure this out.’ That’s nice,”
But the friendship between the duo has helped film even the awkward scene. They have shared a remarkable friendship for a long time and enjoy each other’s company and their collaborations.
Murder Mystery franchise is available to stream on Netflix.
