Oftentimes, bringing out authentic onscreen chemistry becomes an actor’s greatest challenge, while shooting. However, with experience, most stars end up doing the scene flawlessly. But at times, when two actors despise each other due to personal reasons like that of Penn Badgley and Blake Lively, they refuse to get along, thus creating difficulty while filming.
Apparently, after Penn Badgley and Blake Lively went through a rough patch of a breakup, the duo ended up having the worst time on set, while shooting intimate moments. So much so, that the actors even refused to touch each other after their separation.
Penn Badgley And Blake Lively’s Rollercoaster Relationship
Appearing together in the six-season 2007 drama Gossip Girl, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively shared the screen as co-stars, before engaging in a romantic affair. However, as soon as the duo turned into a real-life couple, the show became quite interesting for the audiences, as it appeared to imitate the actors’ real lives.
Further, the duo dated for a while from 2007-2010, during their shooting, and even turned into a fan-favorite couple. However, within a few years, their relationship started taking a dark turn, which ended up causing an ugly breakup for the pair. And within a few years of their breakup, Lively went on to marry the Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, in 2012.
Following their disastrous break-up, the couple ended up causing massive disruption to Gossip Girl, as they refused to even engage with each other onscreen. Maintaining distance in real life as well as on set, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively’s characters were thus forced to go through a breakup. This hinted fans about the actors’ real-life troubles.
Penn Badgley Called Ryan Reynolds’ Wife His Worst Kiss
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live as per Bustle, Penn Badgley addressed fans’ curiosity and reflected upon his relationship status with Blake Lively. He was then asked a personal question about his best and worst onscreen kiss. That’s when the actor stated how Blake Lively was indeed his best kiss.
“I’ll say Blake [was the best on-screen kiss] because we actually had a relationship at the time.”
However, further, when the actor was asked about his worst onscreen kiss, Penn Badgley subtly named Ryan Reynolds’ wife as his worst kiss. Claiming how their breakup turned things sour between them, the actor recalled Blake Lively again, as his worst onscreen kiss.
“Maybe Blake after we broke up. We were consummately professional, to be honest. I think we should both pat ourselves on the back for getting through it. You know, anything is complicated in that way, but we handled it”
Penn Badgley’s interview proved how awkward things got on set when the duo decided to end things. Both refusing to engage with each other due to their ugly breakup landed the show’s crew in great distress. With chemistry gone and things turning bad, Badgley and Lively thus decided it was time for their characters to break up as well.
