Oppenheimer and Cillian Murphy’s performances will certainly become synonymous. The actor is already anticipated to win an Oscar nomination for his outstanding performance in the Christopher Nolan-directed movie. Anyone who has watched the incredibly brilliant actor’s career thus far has always known what he is capable of, so the movie was an ideal setting to finally give him the full acclaim he has deserved over the years.
For comic book enthusiasts, Cillian Murphy is perhaps best known for playing Jonathan Crane, a.k.a. The Scarecrow, in the live-action movie Batman Begins. Since then, he has focused on a career and played roles in which he was a hero, a villain, and an in-between troubled soul. Once, Marvel Cinematic Universe Fantastic Four fan art casts Cillian Murphy as the iconic villain Doctor Doom. But, Murphy would give his nod on one definite condition only.
Cillian Murphy Would Play Doctor Doom But on One Condition
Fans are speculating as to whether Cillian Murphy will take on the role of Doctor Doom as he would certainly make an excellent Doctor Doom. Some concept design saw the Peaky Blinders star taking on the role of the Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom.
Whether Murphy will ever play the role of Doctor Doom or not, it all depends on one thing. It seems like the actor would never compromise with that particular thing. In an interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Murphy talked about the fan casting of him as the MCU’s new Doctor Doom.
When asked if he will say yes to the role, the actor said,
“Yeah, I think you’ve answered the question. Yeah, I mean, I’m always… It’s always about the script. So, I’ll read… If someone sends a script, I’ll read it. And you never know what turns up.”
Cillian Murphy might make a great Victor Von Doom in the MCU, given his track record of chillingly menacing performances.
Cillian Murphy Has Not Much Interest in Superhero Movies
In a Vulture interview, Cillian Murphy, who played the Scarecrow in Nolan’s films, questioned aloud whether Hollywood has “exhausted every single comic book ever?”
He continued by outlining why he found Nolan’s trilogy of Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012) to be more appealing than the movies now being made.
“It was a different time when we made Batman Begins. I think that Chris [Nolan] has to take credit for making that trilogy of films. I think they’re so grounded in a relatable reality.”
Murphy stated that Nolan’s films were notable for not relying on cutting-edge special effects and crazy superpowers to captivate audiences. They were simply excellent movies.
“Nobody in those films ever had a superpower,” he said. “Do you know what I mean? It’s a slightly heightened level of storytelling where New York is Gotham and no one did anything magical. Batman in his movies just did a lot of pushups and was, like, British. So that’s what I loved about them.”

As for the wildly successful Marvel Studios films, Murphy says he doesn’t watch them, but his kids love them.
