Ryan Reynolds’ entry into the MCU is a widely anticipated event for Marvel fans. The hype for Deadpool & Wolverine was evident from the record-breaking trailer of the film on YouTube and the never-ending discussions online. According to the latest rumors, fans believe that one long-time MCU star is set to make an appearance in the film. Anthony Mackie will rumoredly appear in the film before his character’s titular film, Captain America: Brave New World.
After Avengers: Endgame, Mackie’s Sam Wilson aka Falcon got his own miniseries where he was given the mantle of Captain America. If the rumors are true, the character will return for at least six more films in the MCU and may even lead the Avengers in the Multiverse Saga finale.

Fans can’t wait for Anthony Mackie‘s Captain America to meet Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool. Mackie’s Cap can deliver some funny one-liners, but he is a much more responsible superhero than Deadpool ever will be. The opposing personalities will surely result in some sort of conflict between them. Fans may get to watch this interesting scenario much earlier than anticipated, as rumors suggest that the new Cap will make an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.
According to a scoop from the X page, @HolyfieldM5, Captain America and seven other Avengers will appear during the end credits scene of Deadpool & Wolverine. From the first trailer, it appears that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is on a multiversal mission and encounters Wolverine along the way. By the end of the film, it is speculated that both the mutants will reach the MCU’s Earth-616 timeline.
The scooper shared that the official promo art of the film, which was released months ago, was proof for his claims. In one of the pictures, Deadpool and Wolverine are shown from a bottom-up angle and a winged person is flying over their heads. Several shadows also show people at the top of the buildings surrounding them. The scooper believed that it was Captain America and other Avengers surveilling the two mutants.

The scooper also had other scoops for Deadpool & Wolverine, including an official trailer in late March or early April. They also suggested that the X-Men duo will revisit Earth-838 from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Another scoop was about the film rumoredly featuring The SavageLand from Marvel Comics.
Some fans tried to discredit the scoop by suggesting that it could be Archangel and other X-Men in the promo art, instead of Captain America. Fans will have to wait for the Ryan Reynolds film to hit theaters to confirm this theory.
Anthony Mackie’s Bigger Role Will Be Explored In The Upcoming MCU Films
Marvel has been struggling to find leadership for the Avengers before their grand Multiverse Saga finale. The studio has yet to find someone like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans to lead the Avengers. One person fitting for the role will be Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. Rumors suggest that the studio already plans to have Sam Wilson play a bigger role in the effort to take down Kang or whoever the Secret Wars villain will be.
The seeds for this move will be planted in Captain America: Brave New World. Sam Wilson will act as the leader of the team, just like Steve Rogers did, and may even get the chance to command the superheroes with the phrase, “Avengers Assemble!”. If the studio moves ahead with this plan, it only makes sense that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine meet the Avengers leader in Deadpool & Wolverine.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024. Captain America: Brave New World will hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
