Kat Dennings On Living In A Centuries Old House

Kat Dennings unveiled the extraordinary nature of her childhood home. Built-in 1694, her house held the distinction of being the first in the township, marked by a plaque designating it as a historical landmark. The uniqueness of their dwelling attracted the attention of the local historical society which would organize tours bringing sometimes old ladies who would treat Dennings’ house as a public museum.

“I actually lived in a very old house that was built in 1694. It was like the first house in the township so it had a plaque on it, it was a historical landmark. Actually, the historical society would do tours through our home. And sometimes a car filled with sweet old ladies would roll up and they’d all get out with little booklets and they’d walk past me like, eating my cornflakes in the kitchen with my Jansport backpack. When we lived there they’d just walk through as if we were a museum, but it was our family house.”

“Haunted house. It was haunted as hell… I saw some stuff, there were some intense experiences there. You know the classic stuff like lights going on and off, and things going missing and showing up in weird places and the cold… He took his wife, my wonderful sister-in-law, to show her our childhood home because he thought it’d be really sweet and cool. And they stayed in my room. I also lived in the attic, really adding to the whole picture of this. But they were so creeped out that they left under cover of night.”
