In his recent Twitter post, Flanagan thanked everyone involved in creating the show, including his past projects. He spent the last three years in Vancouver where he started working on The Haunting of Bly Manor, and his other series.

It’s been a privilege to work with some wonderful collaborators, actors, directors, storytellers, crew, family, and friends for so long, over THIRTY-FOUR EPISODES of television – the most difficult and rewarding work of my life,” Flanagan said in his tweet.

The director mentioned everyone he has worked with, including actors from both The Haunting series and The Fall of the House of Usher. Flanagan said that Vancouver has been a wonderful home for him and his family for the past years, and his children basically grew up in the area.

He also expressed his enthusiasm working with Star Wars actor Mark Hamill. Flanagan advised that one should never meet their heroes unless it is Luke Skywalker.

Flanagan’s work on The Haunting of Bly Manor, just like the aforementioned, is also based on a novel adaptation written by Henry James. Many of his works are derived from books, and he usually draws inspiration from literary fiction.
