Their roles in the movie and subsequent promotion campaigns sparked rumors of a romance between the two. To shut down the suggestions, Timberlake and Kunis seemingly adopted the mantra of their characters, using friendly P.D.A to underline they are just friends.

Kunis, meanwhile, headed into the year by splitting with Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin after an eight-year-long relationship. A year later, Family Guy’s Meg got romantically involved with Ashton Kutcher. More than a decade later, they are still together and share two children.

Interestingly, in the same year, Kutcher starred in No Strings Attached (2011), a movie with a very similar theme to Friends with Benefits. In their personal lives, both attempted to have a “no strings attached” relationship, but they eventually fell for each other.
