Kakashi Hatake is one of the greatest shinobi in Konoha’s history and later went on to become the Sixth Hokage. Even though he was a generational talent and the son of the legendary White Fang of the Leaf, Sakumo Hatake, he had a rough childhood. He lost two of his dearest friends and was directly involved in their deaths.
Apart from being his friends, they were also his teammates. The trio was under the leadership of Minato Namikaze. After their deaths, Kakashi was disheartened and lost interest in doing things. It was at this point that Minato Namikaze was appointed as the Fourth Hokage. Seeing Kakashi’s state, he sent him to join the Anbu Black Ops. But if he had taken him under his wings, he would have grown up to be a finer shinobi.
Kakashi Had One of the Saddest Backstories
Kakashi’s father was wrongly accused of sacrificing a mission to save his comrades’ lives. As a result, he took his life. Even though he was left alone, he trained hard and became the first one out of his group to become a Jonin. He was assigned to Minato Namikaze, along with Obito Uchiha and Rin Nohara. There was no bond between them, but as time passed, they came close.
Unfortunately, during the Third Great Ninja War, Team Minato was assigned a mission. After Minato took his team to the location, he had an urgent summoning to the Kannabi Bridge. He left his team under Kakashi’s leadership, who was a Jonin at the time. Unfortunately, an unforeseen event took place. The team entered a cave, and Obito saw a boulder coming down at Kakashi. To save him, he pushed him out of the way and got crushed instead.
Before his death, he gave him his left Sharingan. In another unforeseen mission, he was asked to rescue Rin, who was kidnapped by Taiseki. The Three-Tails, Isobu, was sealed inside her. Kakashi tried to rescue Rin by defeating the enemies. But Rin knew that the Three-Tails would go on a rampage if it took over her body. So, she jumped in front of Kakashi’s Chidori and got killed.
Minato Namikaze Could Have Made Kakashi Hatake A Far Greater Ninja
Watching both of his comrades die and be directly responsible for it left a big hole in his heart. To reduce the trauma, Minato allotted him to the Anbu Black Ops so that he was alone no more. But instead of that, if The Fourth Hokage had taken him under his wings, it would have benefited him mentally and helped him unlock his true potential.
Kakashi Hatake had the Sharingan at that point and used it to copy and learn several ninjutsu. Minato could have taken him under his wings and taught him the Flying Raijin Jutsu. The jutsu required the user to put an embedded formula with their chakra mark on the desired object. In Minato’s case, it was Kunai. Wherever the embedded Kunai were thrown or put in place, he could travel there in an instant.

The White Fang’s son was a genius, and using his Sharingan, he could have mastered it pretty quickly. Minato had a three-man team known as the Hokage Guard Platoon. They were taught a weaker version of the Flying Raijin, Flying Thunder Formation Technique, which required all three of them to perform together. If Kakashi had known the Flying Raijin, he could have singlehandedly taken down nations.
Combining his thousand jutsu with the Flying Raijin could make him on par with the Senju brothers. Later, in a guide book it was revealed that after Kakashi lost his Sharingan, he gained four times his chakra since the Sharingan used up most of his chakra previously. On top of that, he remembers all of the thousand jutsus he copied. He was a capable shinobi, but needed someone close at that point in time.
Minato Namikaze could have been an ideal source of support, but he insisted on putting Kakashi in Anbu instead. Even though he thought it could benefit Kakashi, it stunted his growth. It was not until Naruto Uzumaki came that the Sixth Hokage found his lost self. Fans would have loved to see Kakashi of the Sharingan using Flying Raijin Jutsu.
