Modern Warfare 3 has been one of the most unsuccessful titles recently. The latest installment in the series from Activision and Sledgehammer Games has had many issues including gamers not being able to play the game due to an error signaling disk required.

Other issues like the game’s humongous storage size and Call of Duty HQ delay the execution time of the game. The campaign mode was terse and was nothing short of a disappointing attempt. Everything seems to be pointing South on the game’s compass. The recent issues with the game’s Riot Shield, a mechanic that has made the gameplay less fun, have also frustrated players.

Xbox Users also complained of a full-screen ad of the game on their machines as soon as it booted. Matchmaking is also deplorable currently. To summarize, The game feels more like an expansion than a sequel, and a poor expansion at that.

In all honesty, the game feels like it was served pre-baked, and a lot of work is required to set things right from the Publisher and the Developer. It is much more noticeable because Microsoft recently acquired Activision. The news made headlines, and since Modern Warfare 3 is the studio’s first title after the acquisition, things seem to look unfortunate.

After fans, frustrated, agitated, and disappointed by the early access, wanted to voice their opinions. The masses accidentally raided the wrong Modern Warfare 3’s review page. The game’s review page is now accessible, and things are unfavorable.

Modern Warfare 3 Joins the List of AAA Titles Which Did Not Deliver Dividends

AAA titles are developed with a lot of effort from the studio. The amount of resources that are put into games can be staggering sometimes.

Some of the biggest games, like Read Dead Redemption 2, took $370 to $540 million of capital to be made. Modern Warfare 3 budget numbers haven’t been officially revealed, but it might have had an even higher budget per unofficial reports. In addition, the sales were 25% lower than in the last game in the franchise.

Modern Warfare 3‘s quality and feel do not make it seem worthy of being part of the Call of Duty franchise. Once known for its quality, innovation, and genre-defining depth. The series has now been reduced to a cash cow by the studio. The studio doesn’t seem to care about Call of Duty‘s legacy and its massive part in the previous generation’s gaming experiences. Reports say the next game was supposed to be the sequel to Advanced Warfare, but the proposal was negated.

The result of all this frenzy led to the game topping the list of the worst-reviewed games in the franchise. Although, it was expected as the game felt more of a money-making, cashflow-inducing maneuver. The margin between it and the next on the list is also significant.

Hopefully, things will improve subsequently for the franchise. The acquisition by Microsoft will most certainly have more of an effect on the next franchise. Now that the game will be under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella. Failing to make significant chances would be very unfortunate. It would see one of the trailblazers in the first-person shooter genre fade into obscurity.

There are plenty of things the game does wrong and hardly any which it does right. We have reviewed the entire campaign, and one can read it here. And as it says, the effort by the team on the game deservedly puts the game at the end of the barrel.

While the game went live on November 10, even the multiplayer has been disappointing, with people equipping Riot shields on their backs to get out of fights unscratched.

To the matchmaking being downright horrible. As it was, things couldn’t have been worse for the title. But as it turns out, the players and the fans seemed to be in for a rude awakening. Modern Warfare 3 is now out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
