Mortal Kombat 1 had already revealed the characters coming in the Kombat Pack, and Omni-Man was one of the highly anticipated characters in the pack. Omni-Man is popular for his power and the violence he erupts in Robert Kirkman’s Invincible. The gameplay trailer showed some brutal fatality moves by the characters, which were references to iconic scenes from the Invincible series.

The first one shows Omni-Man beating in the face of his opponent, which is a reference to him thrashing his son; another move shows him flying to a subway station and holding his opponent in front of a train as civilians explode; and one shows him squeezing the skull of his opponent as his eyes come out and crushing it with his bare hands, fitting perfectly within the gory world of Mortal Kombat.

Fans have loved the fatalities, and there have only been positive reactions so far. The scenes in the trailer are quite gnarly and are being loved by players who like extreme violence in video games. These fatalities only seem to be focusing on individual attacks, and NetherRealm may have saved more power moves from Omni-Man for his arrival in the game.

The trailer also revealed some dialogue lines from Omni-Man, which made it easy to understand how Omni-Man landed in the world of Mortal Kombat. Omni-Man is seen exchanging dialogues with Mortal Kombat 1‘s characters before the fight. These dialogue lines reveal how he came to be in MK‘s world and is looking to conquer the world for the Viltrum Empire.

Fans appreciated J.K. Simmons reprising his role as Omni-Man, as his voice has been synonymous with the character as he presents the arrogance of the supervillain as he sees a worthy fighter in the Fire God. This is good for the game overall, as Megan Fox’s role as Kitara hasn’t gone as the developers had expected. NetherRealm had already mentioned that it did not get a new voice for Omni-Man, and seeing Simmons reprise his role is a sigh of relief.

Omni-Man has some of the most brutal and incredible fatalities in the game, even by the standards of Mortal Kombat.

The gameplay trailer also showed a brief appearance of Tremor, a classic Mortal Kombat fighter with the power of the Earth Elemental, and he will join Mortal Kombat 1 as a Kameo fighter. Although no exact date has been announced, Omni-Man will be available in the game sometime in November this year and will take on opponents in Mortal Kombat with his incredible fatalities.

Omni-Man will soon be followed by other guest fighters in Mortal Kombat 1 such as Quan Chi, DC’s Peacemaker, Ermac, Takeda Takahashi, Homelander from The Boys, and other Kameo fighters such as Ferra, Janet Cage, Khameleon, and Mavado.

The release window for some of the fighters has been revealed, and they will grace the game in winter 2023/2024 as well as spring and summer next year. Omni-Man will be available for players who have purchased the Premium Edition Mortal Kombat 1 or for players buying the Kombat Pack, which is now available for pre-order and costs $39.99.
