The Emmy Awards have just come to an end as all the stars celebrate their wins and count their losses. One cannot help but ponder which streaming service managed to secure the most and the least wins. Ever since 2020, the shift from theaters to watching cinema from the comfort of home has become more and more evident.
Not only have actors hopped on this wagon, but critically acclaimed directors too. Considering just how much of what Hollywood has produced in the year 2023 has been online, it is no surprise that these projects have also won more than a few awards.
The one surprising thing, however, is the order in which streaming services have secured the least and the most wins. Disney+, which has had a considerably strong year, has managed to only secure second to last place. What is more shocking, however, is the streaming service that actually came in last, considering the reputation it has amongst critics.
Prime Video Lost To Disney+ At The Emmy Awards
Disney+ released several noteworthy projects in the year 2023. From Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and The Mandalorian, they managed to prove themselves to be a great competitor on this front. Unfortunately, as revealed by DiscussingFilm, it would seem that this was not good enough as they were only able to win nine Emmy Awards, becoming the second worst-performing streaming service.
Amazon Prime Video has a reputation for having out-of-the-pocket projects that leave their audience amazed at just how good they were. They also had an exceptional year, with projects like The Marvelous Mr. Maisel, and Daisy Jones and The Six, having been released. This is why it is extremely surprising that the streaming service has secured the least amount of wins this year, only winning six Emmy Awards.
Which Streaming Service Won The Most Emmy Awards?
While Prime Video and Disney+ did not meet the Academy’s expectations for ‘good’ content, there were other streaming services that managed to nail this more than once. In third place was FX, with shows like The Bear, and Welcome to Wrexham, which had a total of sixteen wins. Following close behind, surprisingly enough, was Netflix, which had a very strong year with projects like Beef, Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, and Wednesday. They managed to win twenty-two Emmy Awards.

Finally, the last spot was taken up by HBO, which released some of its best shows of all time in the past year. These include The Last of Us, Succession, White Lotus, and Barry. The streaming service managed to win thirty-one Emmy Awards, having the biggest number out of all the other services. Rightfully so, considering just how much attention their projects have gotten.
