Salma Hayek is not only an incredible actress and human being, but the star is also a proud animal lover. On more than one occasion she has talked about her deep love for animals and how she loves to rescue them. At one point the actress even had over 30 animals living on her ranch.
During one of her amusing rescue stories, Hayek revealed that she had put her whole family at risk by rescuing a very dangerous animal from Mexico thinking that it was a dog. It wasn’t until a vet revealed to her that it was actually a fox, did she realized her grave mistake.
Salma Hayek Rescued A Wild Animal Thinking It Was A Dog
Salma Hayek is known for her love for animals and often posts pictures of her paw friends on social media. She often tells stories about her animals and how she ‘rescued’ them. One time while on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress revealed that she had ‘rescued’ a wild animal from Mexico thinking it was a dog.
“I actually picked it up and put it in the car because it had no hair. It was this little animal in the woods in Mexico. I picked it up and you know months later, when the vet came, and I said- ‘You know my dog is really strange. She’s acting really strange. She doesn’t mix with the other dogs and you know she’s got the hair back but she’s acting strange.’ ‘Well, yeah, she’s not a dog she’s a fox’.”
Hayek’s little mistake could have been pretty dangerous for her family as well as the dozens of other pet animals she had. Thankfully, with the vet’s revelation the actress was able to find a better home for the little fox she had rescued.
Salma Hayek’s Motherly Love Almost Put Her Family At Risk
When Salma Hayek rescued the little fox baby, it had numerous illnesses including skin diseases. If it hadn’t been for the vet, Hayek could have seriously put her human and paw family at risk by raising a fox. In her interview with Degeneres, the actress stated,
“When I picked her up, she had no hair. She had so many illnesses on her skin. And she was only two months. But then she had hair, the motherly love wouldn’t let me see that it was not a dog. It was my puppy.”
Well fortunately for the baby fox, and Hayek’s family, it quickly found a better home, and Salma Hayek couldn’t be happier for her ‘puppy’.
