In a recent tweet on X, it seems that Sneider is frustrated with how David Ayer often mentions the Ayer Cut. The director has stated multiple times that the 2016 version which was released in theaters was not his vision of the movie and much like Zack Snyder, there was studio interference to make the movie a certain way and not the way that he wanted.

A recent article talked about Ayer mentioning that people who had seen the Ayer Cut believed that “It’s one of the best comic book movies ever made”. Sharing it to a tweet on X, Jeff Sneider replied that David Ayer hasn’t moved on from his comments and that it has been years since the director has been making these statements!

“Big “My girlfriend just goes to another school” energy right here. I’ve never seen someone so talented get hung up on a single failure before. Move on, my man!”

Well, Sneider at least called the director “talented” in a complimenting way. In his defense, the director has indeed stated multiple times, and yet the people continue to ask him about the Ayer Cut. In a recent tweet, the director talked about the differences between the Studio Cut and his Ayer Cut and even stated that he “made a drama, not a clown show“!

As if the director hadn’t already clarified enough, a fan recently asked Ayer on X about what the difference was between the two cuts. After the director revealed some notable differences, Ayer claimed that it wasn’t just one or two scenes that were different and that he made a great movie.

“It’s not a matter of a new scene or two. I honestly cannot think of director cut / studio cut with more difference between them. A lot of the popular issues with SS16 are endemic to the studio version. I made a drama not a clown show. I made a great movie.”

The director recently worked with veteran actor Jason Statham in the 2024 movie The Beekeeper which marked Ayer’s first success after the 2016 fiasco of Suicide Squad. Ayer’s Suicide Squad (not his vision) received a rating of 5.9/10 on IMDB and a meager 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2016 film is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
