Things are not going well for Mr. & Mrs. Smith in the sixth episode of “Infidelity.” After a fight about children, John and Jane have been sleeping in separate rooms. They do not talk, and they do not speak. Jane is under the weather, and her only honest communication through the outside world is with her boss, the artificial intelligence Hihi.

John leaves to go out. Jane then receives a message. We think it’s from Hihi because she is looking at her computer. Jane leaves and arrives at a home where a nice woman (Michaela Coel) answers about Jane’s age. They talk about art. She offers Jane some tea. While she grabs it, Jane pulls out a gun and starts to screw on a silencer.

When she comes back, Jane pulls out the gun and asks, “How long have you been seeing my husband?”

Bev ensures she understands they are not having a physical affair but are just friends. She likes how John is self-aware. They watch movies and talk. However, the biggest revelation is that John tells Bev that he and his wife are spies. Also, he emasculates him. Yet he loves her, but they are incompatible. However, John wants to be incompatible with Jane.

That’s when John arrives. Jane hides and tells Bev not to say a word. If she does, Jane will shoot her. Jane then around the corner near the kitchen. After some awkward small talk and bad jokes, John asks Bev, “Where’s my wife?”

Why was John seeing Bev?

John was seeing Bev because Hihi gave him a separate assignment. Bev is a spy, too, for a rival organization. Bev knows the jig is up and attacks John. While they fight in hand-to-hand combat, Jane watches. Her face is confused, fearful, and relieved. She then knocks John to the ground.

John exasperatingly says, “Jane,” because she is holding a gun and not helping. She fires several times, but Bev dives over the sofa. There is no movement. They think she may be dead. (You’d think they would go and check, but who wants to nitpick?) John looks at Jane. She replies, “What?”

That’s when Bev jumps out from behind the couch and places a mechanized noose called a bolito around John’s neck. (It’s the same thing that cost Brad Pitt’s character his life in The Counselor.) John tries to cut it off while Bev fights Jane. Bev escapes. Jane then cuts the device off John’s neck.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 1 Episode 6 Ending Explained:  Why does John leave Jane?

John tells Jane he is leaving her tomorrow because it has become increasingly clear that Hihi is ruining their relationship. First, let’s go back to when Bev escaped. They follow her with a tracker John placed at her back. While chasing her, a lot of dirty laundry is aired out. John admits he likes her. It was a three-day job. Why did John work on it for a month, then?

Jane says it’s because he was having an emotional affair with her. How did John quit using cologne for Bev and not her? The subject of sex with targets comes up. Jane is also mad that he kissed her, but John never had sex with her because he couldn’t get it up over guilt. However, Jane admits she has done it twice for their missions, which upsets John.

John and Jane then track Bev to the “Orsay,” where they go on their first mission. They find the tracker there, with a postcard sign from Bev. She knew to go there because John told Bev about Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s first mission. When they arrive home, they talk.

Bev found out from Hihi that John was at Bev’s home but has yet to mention the mission. John tells Jane that he went to Bev’s because Hihi told him she was there. Hihi is doing everything they can to break them apart so Jane can move up a level.
