SEGA’s long-running Football Manager franchise is getting its next installment, Football Manager 2024 next month on November 6. The franchise has been around for nearly twenty years with the first release in 2004. Football Manager 2023 did not perform very well despite its popularity and Football Manager 2024 aims to do better than the last entry with new features and more.
Football Manager 2024 will launch for all major platforms including Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5, PC platforms, Nintendo Switch, and smartphones. However, the mobile version of the game will be released exclusively via the popular streaming platform Netflix.
Football Manager 2024 Mobile Is Exclusive to Netflix Subscribers
Netflix has entered a partnership with Football Manager 2024 and the game will launch exclusively for Netflix subscribers, unlike FM23 which was available on Apple Arcade. Netflix has been bringing video games to its subscribers and this partnership with FM24 will only enhance it. Football Manager 2024 will look to boost its player count with Netflix’s global reach and membership base.
Existing players with a Netflix membership will be able to download FM24 Mobile from the Netflix mobile app when the game launches next month. Players can find the game from the dedicated Games row on their Apple devices and the Games tab on Android devices.
Football Manager 2024 Mobile will be accessible on Google Play and App Store but players will require a Netflix account and membership to log in and play the game. If players are not logged in to Netflix on their mobile phones, they will get a sign-in prompt on the game’s loading screen and can enter their Netflix account details to log in or sign up for a new membership.
Football Manager 2024 is the 20th entry in the popular franchise and FM24 will be the first title to launch in Japan. The game will also feature the Japanese language to commemorate the historical launch. Talking about the game’s release in Japan and the mobile version’s exclusivity to Netflix, Sports Interactive head Miles Jacobson stated:
Having been part of the Sega family for two decades, the whole team is thrilled to be releasing in Japan and including the Japanese language for the first time.
That debut, plus the fact more than 230 million people around the world will now have access to our already popular Mobile series through their Netflix memberships, means we’re tremendously excited about the potential for our player base to keep growing.
Football Manager 2024 will be released on Netflix on the same day as the PC and Console launch and is rumored to be the last game in the franchise before a major overhaul in 2024 for the next installment, Football Manager 2025, as Sports Interactive will then move to Unity.
Football Manager 2024 Will Bring a Host of New Features
Football Manager 2024 will feature the popular tactical gameplay with several new features and new updates which are being introduced systematically from October 23. The game will feature smart transfers, squad building and finances, set piece refresh, coach debut, individual player targets and interaction logic, motivational options, and enhancements to player movement and ball physics.
With the game release in Japan, Football Manager 2024 will also bring J.League and Meiji Yasuda Insurance Ltd J1, J2, and J3 leagues will be available for players to unlock and play across all versions. The game will feature over 60 clubs from the J.League, making it the “most complete edition” ever.
Players in Football Manager 2024 will also be able to move their careers across from all versions of Football Manager 2023, FM23 Console, and FM23 Touch and can continue their game without starting over.
