At Jump Festa 2024, it was announced that WIT Studios, in collaboration with Netflix, will remake One Piece. With better and improved visuals, it is a means to attract more people to the anime world. One Piece has been running for 25 years, and having a remake will be nostalgic to the old fans. But knowing Netflix, they might make a few changes to give the anime a new identity.
Even though nothing much has been revealed, there is a particular character that WIT Studios and Netflix can introduce at the beginning of the anime that was not present for 25 years. The character in the talks is Shanks’ daughter, Uta. Uta was made a canon character in Eiichiro Oda, and introducing her could potentially add more depth to his magnum opus.
Uta’s Introduction Might Be A Big Success
In Netflix’s One Piece Live Action, the fans saw that there were several changes made to the anime. It was a means to give the series a new identity but maintained the essence of the original story. In the case of WIT Studios’ The One Piece, they might not have such options since it is a remake of the original anime. But one change that they can make is to introduce Uta from the beginning instead of waiting for a thousand episodes.
Uta was first introduced in One Piece episodes 1030 and 1030 in Monkey D. Luffy’s backstory. She was revealed to be the daughter of Shanks and dreamt of becoming a singer and a performer. The One Piece: Red movie focused on her and Shanks’ relationship. The fans had to wait a couple of decades for the introduction of Uta, but Netflix could bring her in the first episode to add more depth to Luffy’s backstory and feature another side of Shanks that the fans have yet to see.
Introducing Uta will help the anime because it will show Luffy’s backstory in a single flow and not break it into several pieces, which might confuse the fans. Uta had a big influence on Luffy, and it was only after knowing her that he longed for a musician among his crew.

The One Piece will feature the East Blue Saga first. The animation of the Romance Dawn is the best arc where Uta can be introduced. She will be an important introduction if Netflix decides to add her. It would also benefit Netflix since the old watchers would also watch it since Uta was not present in the original anime. Uta has next to no screen time in the anime, and WIT Studios could do her justice.
She would fit pretty well in the anime. Her introduction will not lead to many changes, but it will add depth to the story. Apart from the announcement, nothing was revealed about The One Piece. The fans are waiting to hear more from Netflix. For the moment, Uta’s introduction is just a thought, but if it becomes reality, the expectations will skyrocket.
