One Piece is one of the best anime series that was ever written and produced, however when the news of its live action was announced a state of horror took over the fans. The reason was live action always had a history of ruining the work of authors and studios and making the series look like a joke. However recently Eiichiro Oda has revealed that Netflix made him a big promise and that was the reason he allowed the production to start.

In an announcement Tweet, Oda sensei revealed :

Netflix has committed enormous resources to the production. It was announced that the show will launch in 2023 but they have promised me that we won’t launch until I am satisfied.

This was the turning point which made the One Piece live-action successful.

What promise did Netflix make to Eiichiro Oda?

One of the major reasons for the failure of live-action series has always been due to changing the storyline and scripts. We all know Oda sensei is a perfectionist and he could not bear to see his hard work of decades going to waste therefore it took him many years to be convinced.

According to Dexerto to convince One Piece author Eiichiro Oda the team promised him that they would only go ahead with it if he was satisfied with it. This ended up turning into a major reason for the success of the live-action.
