Back in the day when Marvel Entertainment reigned supreme on the silver screen with The Defenders universe on Netflix, there were several characters from different shows featuring Marvel heroes that fans were automatically attracted to.

Among them, many would claim that David Tennant, in his role as Kilgrave in Jessica Jones, was one of the most enigmatically evil characters that just made you interested in him without trying hard.

As the series concluded with his character finally meeting his maker in the show, the star is still hopeful that the MCU will bring him in again as the antagonist from the series in the future. During his Red Carpet at the 2024 BAFTA Awards (via CoveredGeekly), the Doctor Who star once again stated that he was hopeful Marvel Studios would bring him into the franchise as The Purple Man in one of the many future projects in the cinematic universe. He said:

“I’d love to do Kilgrave again, yeah Kilgrave would be great, I mean… he did very much get his neck broken, he was very dead. But never say never in the Marvel Universe.”

And now, with The Defenders universe becoming canon to the MCU and the return of several characters from that franchise into the main timeline, it seems like Tennant might just fit right in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again if the Devil’s Reign storyline is followed.

With the confirmation and big updates that the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again has received over the last few months, we can be almost certain that almost every member of The Defenders will make an appearance in the coming show, which can be set up for the perfect Devil’s Reign storyline.

This storyline focuses on Mayor Wilson Fisk illegalizing vigilantism in the city of New York by enforcing this new law with the help of the Thunderbolts and taking down any vigilante characters along with some other big names like The Fantastic Four. He also decides to use the powers of The Purple Man to sway the public consensus in his favor through his mind control abilities.

Thus, since all of these different characters and storylines have almost been confirmed at this point, Tennant’s character might make a return with the MCU’s signature comic book accuracy in the series.
