The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going through a hard time recently, with most of their projects unable to meet fan expectations. Other than a handful of their recent projects, like Loki and Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 3, most have been unable to find a place for themselves. And though the hype for some of the upcoming projects – like Deadpool & Wolverine and the Fantastic Four reboot is high – fans don’t seem too excited about most other projects that are in development currently.
One such project, Captain America: Brave New World, starring Anthony Mackie in the lead, is not a fan favorite at the moment. The movie will be the first in the Captain America series without Chris Evans, one of the most favored faces in the MCU. And though Sam Wilson is a beloved character, given the amount of time this movie has been delayed with continuous reshoots happening, the expectation for it to be something spectacular is getting lesser by the day.
New Update On Captain America 4 Might Bring The MCU Back in Track
Captain America 4 will see Sam Wilson finally moving forward in the story as the new Captain, after Steve Rogers’ departure since Avengers: Endgame. But given how disinterested people have become with the story, the success fans associate with the MCU will be hard to come by. And superhero fatigue is playing a pivotal role in this. But Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege is not a man who will be complacent with mediocre results.
After the sky-high success of the MCU, its tumble down the hill has been a hard pill to swallow for most, Fiege very much included. And the man has been trying his best to bring the good old days back. In his quest, the most recent update about Captain America 4 has been able to restore audience faith, even if a little bit. According to industry insider DanielRPK (via X), Captain America: Brave New World will reportedly have Adamantium and Tiamut Island as the main plot of the film.
Tiamut Island was touched upon back in Chloe Zhao’s Eternals, but it left the audience with more questions than answers. In Captain America 4, Tiamut Island will allegedly be known as the “Celestial Island,” and we might finally have some answers. The resource from the island could be adamantium, even though it is supposed to be a man-made alloy. We can only wait to see how exactly Tiamut, or Celestial Island, in this case, will connect to the steel alloy that “made” Wolverine.
Marvel Its-All-Not-Connected-Anymore Cinematic Universe
Up until Spider-Man: No Way Home – the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been connected to each other through movies and TV shows. But after the Tom Holland movie and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, things are not the same. Many plot holes from previous projects that were left untouched until now will have the chance to be addressed. Now that the thread that was keeping them all interconnected is gone, it will be refreshing to see how Marvel plans to move forward with the many stories.
The superhero fatigue everyone has been lamenting about for a while now should take a back burner with more expanded storytelling for characters, both new and old. The Cinematic Universe going forward will have a better chance at bringing the audiences back to the theatres. And Captain America: Brave New World can be the first step towards that.
Captain America 4 will be released in theatres on February 14, 2025.
