After leaving his undeniable mark in the entertainment business, especially on the silver screen side of things, it seems like fortune has finally favored Pedro Pascal as he is confirmed to play the role of Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four film in the MCU. This will be his first rodeo working with the cinematic juggernaut, but the second time working with Disney.
Now, all that remains is for the film to start its production soon, as development has wrapped up already. But while we did get the production dates, it is not looking good for the star’s future in the franchise. Considering Pascal is already 48 years old, and production taking the same time as others in the MCU while starting from Q3, 2023, we might see the film around late 2025, which is not a good outcome especially if he’s to remain till or after Secret Wars.
Pedro Pascal Will Start Filming For Fantastic Four From The Third Quarter Of 2024
One of the biggest draws on the TV side of things last year were The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, two shows by Lucasfilm and HBO respectively that won the hearts of the audience. The star at the center of them both was none other than Pedro Pascal, which is why it isn’t shocking that Marvel Studios have chosen him to play the role of Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four.

And while this may be the entry into the MCU that fans were expecting the star to receive, it has come with one catch that may prove to be bad for him. It was recently informed by The InSneider that the production for the aforementioned film will start in the third quarter of 2024, which is around the time of August or September.
It was also reported that the star is injured at the moment with a fracture in his hand, but at the same time, has to begin shooting for the second season of The Last of Us, which is said to be starting in March or April this year. Thus, since the star has had such a tight schedule practically since the start of 2024, he has also reportedly left Zach Cregger’s production of Weapons, a project that he was earlier part of.
While he still may be getting the chance to become a member of the MCU, the postponement of the film’s production may be more of a bane than a boon.

Why The Postponement Of The Production Is Bad News For Pascal
While the news of the shoot for his upcoming MCU film may look like a win, considering it doesn’t clash with The Last of Us anymore, it’s not all bells and whistles for the star’s future.

Since the star is already 48 years old now, doing more demanding physical roles will gradually become harder for him, which is also one of the reasons why it’s being rumored that he will be replaced as the titular protagonist of the upcoming Star Wars film The Mandalorian and Grogu. On top of that, if he’s making his debut as Reed Richards in 2025, then he will definitely be part of the MCU for a long time, which might not help him in his future in the franchise.
