HBO’s Game of Thrones catapulted to fame garnering the attention of the global audience. Since its massive success, the streaming platform has pushed for several prequels with House of the Dragon being the only one that eventually premiered in 2022. As several projects continue to be in the development phase, a GoT prequel drops a positive update.
As the fans await the next season of the House of the Dragon, GoT‘s next spin-off, The Hedge Knight is reportedly slated to premiere next year.

The report also mentioned that the filming location is going to be in and around Belfast, Northern Ireland. The official synopsis of the new show is as follows via Deadline,
“A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
The upcoming show is going to focus on small-scale affairs unlike its predecessors, which is set decades after the events of House of the Dragon and decades before the events of Game of Thrones.
The Hedge Knight is the First Park of Three Books!
Martin has written three books in the Tales of Dunk and Egg series, The Hedge Knight (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010). In 2015, they were collected and published as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The new series will follow the events of the first novel, however, it might make slight changes to the source to retain the excitement among fans.
Whereas, HBO Max has also announced some of the crew attached to this project. Ira Parker, who was the co-executive producer of House of the Dragon Season 1 is on board for the new show. Whereas, veteran producers, Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis, who overlooked both GoT and HOT D Season 1, are returning for this project. Show creator, Martin is also attached as a writer and an executive producer for The Hedge Knight.
It is surely great news for fans as they await the second season of the popular HOT D. Initially, Redaian Intelligence reported that the show has begun reshooting battle scenes in the UK which is expected to stretch until March 13.
The report mentioned,
“This could very well mean the Battle at Rook’s Rest, which was originally shot over two weeks back in August 2023 in Bourne Woods, primarily. To be clear, battle scenes are likely not the only thing they aim to reshoot, but we now know they are one of those things.”
However, it is unlikely to affect its release date which is slated for a summer release. Currently, one can watch the Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon Season Season 1 on HBO.
