Sophie Turner and Kit Harington will reunite after their eight-year stint in Game of Thrones. The duo will star in the horror, The Dreadful, directed by Natasha Kermani. The Gothic horror film has a unique connection to Turner and Harington’s previous project. Kermani’s film will be set in the backdrop of the War of the Roses, a historical event that inspired George R. R. Martin to come up with the Song of Ice and Fire series.
Turner will also serve as a producer in the film, as she looks to revive her career which had no major successes since Game of Thrones wrapped up in 2019. Harington also has to land a major success yet. Both the actors mostly made headlines in recent times for their personal lives.
Sophie Turner And Kit Harington Reunite For The Dreadful
Sophie Turner and Kit Harington played half-siblings throughout the eight seasons of the HBO drama, Game of Thrones. In the fantasy series, Turner played Sansa Stark of House Stark of Winterfell, and Harington played the Night’s Watch’s Jon Snow. Turner and Harington were both nominated for Emmys for their roles in the series.
The duo is set to star together once again in the Gothic horror movie, The Dreadful. UTA Independent Film Group and Film Bridge International will be handling the movie’s sales at the European Film Market (via Deadline). Directed by Natasha Kermani, the film explores Turner’s character Anne, who lives a solitary and harsh life with her mother-in-law Morwen during the War of the Roses. According to the logline, Harington will play “a man from their past” who returns to their lives.
Kermani has previously proved herself in the genre with projects like the SXSW horror film, Lucky, and the thriller film, Shattered. She also directed a segment on the anthology film V/H/S/85, which is now streaming on Shudder. The production houses involved in the project are Redwire Pictures, Storyboard Media, and Black Magic Banner.
Turner also serves as a producer, alongside Luke Daniels, Patrick Muldoon, Patrick Hibler, Lucas Jarach, and Greg Lauritano. The actress, 27, and Harington, 37, appeared in several projects after their Game of Thrones roles. However, both lacked largely successful films or series after their eight-season run.
Sophie Turner and Kit Harington’s Career After Game Of Thrones
Sophie Turner’s most remembered role after her role as Sansa Stark was the brief cameo in Do Revenge. Turner had “the best time” filming the role of Erica Norman in the film led by Riverdale‘s Camila Mendes and Stranger Things‘ Maya Hawke (via Netflix). She had the lead role in the HBO miniseries, The Staircase. Turner is also cast as the real-life criminal Joan Hannington aka “Godmother” in the upcoming British crime series Joan.
Harington was recently part of the AppleTV+ series, Extrapolations, and films including Blood for Dust and Baby Ruby. He was also cast as Dane Whitman in the Marvel film, Eternals. It is expected that Harington will reprise his role in the upcoming Marvel film, Blade. However, both actors have gone through some struggling times in their personal lives after Game of Thrones.
The new film announcement comes amidst Sophie Turner’s ongoing issues with her ex-husband Joe Jonas. The former couple has only recently reached a settlement about the custody of their child. Harington has been struggling with alcohol addiction issues, which even left him suicidal (via Daily Mail). The Dreadful appears to be a crucial project for both actors at this stage.
