Announced today, IguanaBee Studios and GameMill Entertainment are bringing out a new King Kong game! A third-person action -adventure game lets us, the players, become Kong as we undertake a ‘journey of vengeance’ to regain our title of King of Skull Island.
Promising an ‘action-packed quest’, IguanaBee look set to give players the King Kong game we’ve been sorely missing, with the last attempt at bringing the gigantic character to the interactive screen not exactly faring well. Hopefully this iteration will be better!
A New King Kong Game? Yes Please!
Based on the rich history of Skull Island, originally developed by creator Joe DeVito, and based on Merian C. Cooper’s King Kong, the King Kong game certainly promises to follow the source material, it’ll just depend on exactly how that translates to the gaming world.
Last seen on the big screen in Godzilla vs Kong, gamers have been asking for years when we’ll next get the opportunity to take control of the King of the Apes, and it seems we’re closer than we expected! The game looks every bit of a King Kong story as we’re ever going to need, with blistering combos, open-world explorations of iconic Skull Island locations and a story from orphan to King, it looks great!

Skull Island: Rise of Kong is available now to pre-order from major retailers across the globe, with a digital deluxe version called the ‘Colossal Edition also available. It includes eight exclusive film grains, allowing the game to be experienced in a variety of different classic ways, from the original look of the 1933 classic to the 1970 era of King Kong films. It also includes a pack of ten colours for Kong, so if a somewhat accurate gorilla isn’t enough, you can change it up! A behind-the-scenes exclusive pack is included, which shows off the in-game artwork and even a copy of the ‘all-original orchestral soundtrack’. Not a bad deluxe edition!
