Netflix introduces a new plan for its subscribers
Ever since the concept of OTT was introduced, people got accustomed to it and have spent sleepless nights binge-watching their favorite series and films. Among many other streaming platforms, Netflix certainly topped the list for yielding the best content to its users. However, now it seems like Netflix subscribers have to find other ways to spend their nights, as the streaming platform recently announced a change in its plan.
The OTT platform has officially put a hiatus on its basic ad-free plan in the US and the U.K. Netflix previously offered a single stream for just $9.99 per month in the U.S. and £6.99 per month in the U.K. But now it has scratched the plan in the US and the U.K. Although the new amendments have only impacted new and rejoining members, existing users can still enjoy using the streaming platform if they stick to the same account without making any changes.

Since Netflix has made a major change in its plans, it has tried its best to maintain its customer base by providing them with a cost-efficient plan. According to a spokesperson for Netflix,
“Our starting prices of $6.99 in the US and £4.99 in the U.K. [for Standard With Ads] are lower than the competition and provide great value to consumers given the breadth and quality of our catalog.”
The streaming platform now offers its subscription in three categories: the starting price of an ad-supported subscription is $6.99 in the US and £4.99 in the U.K., the standard plan is fixed at $15.49 in the US and £10.99 in the U.K.; and the premium plan is priced at $19.99 in the US and £15.99 in the U.K. All these are monthly plans.

Netflix adding ‘dumpster fire’ level business decisions to accompany their most recent content level is not a move i expected this year.

Netflix doesn’t have enough content to justify that

Overall Netflix sucks. They’re only good for a one thing. My repeat watching of the same show over and over again.

The streaming giant made this change in its subscription plan as it has been losing subscribers, and the survival of the streaming platform became very doubtful. To overcome the crisis, Netflix decided to collaborate with Microsoft to increase sales and technology for this new subscription plan. Netflix required more revenue, and the only way to generate that was through ads.
