While Minaj did not respond immediately, she addressed the topic during the Instagram live stream stating (via The Guardian),

“Regarding Kanye: that train has left the station, OK? No disrespect in any way. I just put out a brand new album. Why would I put out a song that has been out for three years? Come on, guys.”

Their history with that song dates back to 2018 as Minaj recorded the song with the duo for the rapper’s scrapped album Yandhi. It was then re-recorded for his 2019 gospel record, Jesus Is King with a new verse sung by the Queen of Rap. However, it didn’t sit well with her as she complained back at the time,

“What’s funny is that I did a song with Kanye, that he now wants to transform into a gospel song. I done wrote three different verses chile, and I don’t know. We ain’t seeing eye to eye on it,” she told The Shade Room at the time.

The song was an eventual hit on TikTok after getting leaked however the actress has already made herself clear that the song would not be released. In an interview with the Hot 106 at the time, she stated,

“The public adored ‘New Body.’ Like, ‘New Body’ is the biggest hit record that never came out.” She added, “Had ‘New Body’ been out when he was not in his gospel era, then it would’ve seen the light of day. But, it didn’t, so it wasn’t meant to be. Everybody knows that’s the hit that got away. … I think the ship has sailed for ‘New Body,’ everybody has come to love the original way they heard it.”

Meanwhile, the album is garnering mixed reactions due to West’s past comments about anti-semitism, leading to major controversy.
