Nicole Kidman’s renowned series Big Little Lies, which concluded its explosive run on HBO with its second season, is now returning for another blast. Debuting in 2017, the show came to an end with season 2 in 2019. And now according to reports, the show is being actively developed for further episodes.
While Big Little Lies dealt with a lot of violence, cheating, lying, bullying, and r*pe, that mentally affected all the actors, Nicole Kidman promised to return for another run. Despite the abusive and intimate scenes with her co-star Alexander Skarsgård that affected them both, Kidman gathered her courage to return for the show.
Nicole Kidman Is Ready To Return For Big Little Lies
Based on Liane Moriarty’s novel, Nicole Kidman’s Big Little Lies debuted on television in 2017. Earning massive appreciation, the show went ahead with its second season in 2019. Taking the horrors of domestic violence and throwing the reality of it right into viewers’ faces, the show gained a massive viewership.
And now, as revealed by Nicole Kidman, the critically acclaimed series is now being actively developed by writer Liane Moriarty for its third season. During an interview with Jam Nation via NME, Kidman revealed the status of the show and discussed how she will undoubtedly return for the project.
“There’s a story being concocted. Liane Moriarty is working on a book. Our group of women all want to do it. It’s more the kernel of ideas that just need to be solidified”
Despite her character Celeste Wright portraying the face of domestic violence as she got yanked, punched, and slapped by her husband, Perry (Alexander Skarsgård), the actress confirmed to return for another run. Gathering her courage to unmask the reality of society, Kidman promised to join Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep, Zoë Kravitz, and others for the show.
Nicole Kidman’s Traumatizing Scenes With Alexander Skarsgård
Previously, during the ongoing season 2 of Big Little Lies, Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman opened up about filming abusive and intimate scenes in the show. Discussing the hardships and trauma they faced, the actors explained how they pulled off their abusive but steamy relationship in the show.
“I was in a different place. My body was physically beaten up. I would throw myself into it. Alex was careful. I would say, ‘Throw me against the wall.’ It’s very raw…I held a lot in. There were a couple of times I broke down and started crying and couldn’t stop.” Kidman told Yahoo.
Explaining the trauma she went through as her character endured domestic abuse at the hands of her husband, played by Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman discussed the raw emotions. Further, even Skarsgård opened up about the same to Vanity Fair and discussed how they got through it.
“It was definitely tough shaking that off…We made a point of checking in with each other, giving each other a hug.”
Despite putting themselves through the trauma and the gruesome scenes, Kidman promised to return, to tap into the ugly and complicated marriage between Celeste and Perry.
