There is a lot of anticipation for Ninja Theory’s upcoming game, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, and the process of its making is one of the main reasons behind so much anticipation. The lengths that Ninja Theory went to for this game as well as its predecessor is quite impressive. 2017’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was a good place to start as Ninja Theory has now identified the flaws and made sure that they worked on those elements for the second game.

One of these things is the second game’s run time. Dom Matthews, studio head at Ninja Theory, explained that the game would have a shorter narrative as they would like to focus on things that “they care about” and hope players would feel the same. When it was announced that the game would have a runtime of roughly 9 hours, there was some criticism but judging by Matthews’ statement, it appears like the $50 price tag would be worth it.

In the 2024 Developer_Direct of Ninja Theory, Dom Matthews, the studio head, revealed that their upcoming game Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will feature a shorter narrative than its predecessor, 2017’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Matthews said,

“We’re now in the final months of development onSenua’s Saga: Hellblade II and the team is working hard to bring you an unforgettable journey into Senua’s unique world and her battle for survival, where we have once again combined high-fidelity and immersive presentation with a shorter narrative-led experience that focuses on the things that we really care about, and that we hope you care about too.”

Despite increasing production efforts for the follow-up, it seems like the game will have a lesser runtime than the previous game. It appears like Ninja Theory hopes to focus only on things that are essential for the story, cutting out all the unnecessary parts.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will reportedly be 9 hours long

As per GamingBolt, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is roughly 9 hours long which is slightly less than the previous game but it is to be noted that the previous game retailed at $29.99 while the sequel is priced at $49.99. Gamers were unhappy with the announcement but Hellblade II is expected to blow everyone away with its stunning visuals and immersive story.

Ninja Theory is well-known for taking some extra steps for their games. From the mental well-being of their employees to the proper research on psychosis, they’ve done it all. With Unreal Engine 5 and the resources of Microsoft, Ninja Theory’s parent company, the studios have not left any stone unturned to meet the fans’ expectations.
