Fans are eager to witness The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at some point, but they certainly didn’t want it to come at the expense of Cody Rhodes’ storyline. Initially, it appeared that way on Friday Night SmackDown, but fortunately, things have taken a positive turn for the better at WrestleMania 40. With that said, fans should temper their expectations as well.

At WrestleMania 39 last year, Cody Rhodes came close to winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and ending Roman Reigns’ historic reign. However, interference from The Bloodline led to a controversial win for The Tribal Chief. This continues to be a major source of trauma not just for Cody Rhodes, but his fans as well.

While speaking in an interview with WrestlingNewsCo, real-life Bloodline member Lance Anoa’i predicted that The American Nightmare would suffer another loss to Roman Reigns, stating that Rhodes won’t be able to finish his story at WrestleMania 40.

“I don’t think Cody Rhodes is going to finish his story, that’s what I say. No disrespect to the Rhodes family but that story is not gonna end anytime soon. That’s my opinion. It is what it is. I mean, it may be different, I don’t know. I’ll be there. I’ll be at WrestleCon, I’ll be out there signing autographs. Also, I’ll be at WrestleMania. We will soon find out.”

Only time will tell whether The American Nightmare will finally be able to thwart The Head of The Table and become the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, as fans want that to happen more than anything.

Since Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble this year, Seth Rollins has been trying to convince him to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, the situation took a sudden turn at the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Press Event when The Rock slapped The American Nightmare.

During a recent episode of Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, the wrestling veteran noted that fans were not eager to see another match between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. Cornette suggested that a tag team match, where the two babyfaces team up against The Rock and Roman Reigns, would make more sense.

“It’s perfect… If Cody doesn’t win, God damn, everybody’s going down with the ship on this one. They’re doubling down. We thought it was ready last year. It’s God damn ready… Can you see Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins against The Rock and Roman Reigns? Of course, we can. And Seth is positioned where we don’t have to see Seth and Cody fight again, which nobody really wanted to. But as a tag team or as two friends combined for a purpose against other nefarious forces against them, or whatever the f**k, yes.”

It’s worth noting that Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins have faced each other in the past, with The American Nightmare consistently defeating the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Even then, Seth Rollins confirmed he wants to fight by Cody Rhodes’ side against The Bloodline during the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event, so fans might just get to see the tag team bout take place in the end.
